Hey there,

I've basically suffered from two types of acne...whiteheads around my mouth and these closed bright red bumps that crop up on my temples and cheek bone areas. I can mostly control the whiteheads by not eating sugar, but I've got some questions about the closed ones.

They generally pop up due to contact. I had gone a few months without any, but one day I decided to rub my temples with black shirt to see how much dead skin I had. In a week, two or three popped up. And these take months to go away, and I've still got red marks from ones that appeared years ago.

Any recommendations on dealing with this? My skin doesn't look terribly congested in these areas, but it is rather red and scarred from previous bouts. I notice that every time I participate in an activity where I'm wearing a helmet (especially snowmobiling), I will inevitably end up with these damn bumps.

I've got some glycolic acid on the way to help with shedding the dead skin cells. However I used a 40% lactic acid peel around 12 times last winter, and it didn't prevent the bumps from coming up after wearing a helmet for an extended time. I'm confused, because part of my regimen used to include rubbing my face with a warm wet cloth to get rid of the dead skin, and this seemed to work. Now brief contact with my hoodie brings them up?

Currently, all I do is wash my face with water, and avoid any refined sugars.

Any ideas?
