So..
I might as well share a bit about me before I start.. Posted Image
I'm 18 years old. I'm VERY into natural foods & organic products .. etc. lol & I suffer from Acne !!! Arghhh!
I've been suffering with skin issues since either 11 or 12. Back then, it didn't bother me as much but the
longer I struggled with it, the worse it got & the more my self esteem was destroyed. Back then, my skin was
so & so but as the time went on it was progressively getting worse! I wanted & also NEEDED to go to a
dermatologist but my mother would not take me, saying, "You'll grow out of it"... "It's only a stage" .. She was
saying that up until I was 17. Shame, I know. My self esteem got really torn down. Finally at 17 I starting seeing
numerous dermatologist. I started out using retinoids (Differin, Retin-A micro pump, Retin-A micro cream) , antibiotic
creams & gels, azelaic acid, antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide creams, proactive.. You name it, I used it. While using
all of these millions of creams & gels my skin started to develop a lot of redness & sensitivity. I was told by one
doctor I have Rosacea, which is just wonderful. I never use to have it! Well, lets just say I've gone through the ringer
with this dang skin. I was on a course of accutane once before, a year & a half ago. It really improved but the acne
came back. Not as bad. So I went back to my dermatologist a month & a half ago & w/o me having to say much
he put me back on accutane !

Today is my 6th day on Accutane. I was put on 80mgs a day. ( I should have made this the 1st day I started
I didn't have the time ). However, I haven't seen much yet anyway except my lips are a bit drier, not sure
if that's from the accutane or me just licking my lips alot.. lol. But I am having lots of little flakes. Nothing
Terrible though! Posted Image

So far this is all I do..

AM:

Take shower & gently wash my face with Tecniche Nutra Lotion Cleanser ( It's a gentle organic cleanser )
Pat my face dry with a clean towel !
Put on Dr.Bronners organic peppermint chapstick!

PM:

Take shower & gently wash my face with Tecniche Nutra Lotion Cleanser... Pat my face dry with a clean towel.
Put on Dr.Bronners organic peppermint chapstick. lol

I don't wear makeup or use anything extra on my skin at all ! I don't like the feeling of lots of stuff
being on my skin. I just want my skin to be naturally healthy. I did purchase a jar of Sanre Siesta Sunset Organic
Skinfood Moisturizer from Aidas whole Foods for my accutane course. I go by the motto, "If it's healthy enough
to eat, then I should be able to put it on my skin" ..

Well lets hope this accutane helps! Good luck everyone with your courses as well!

Here are pics of me before my course, Lol. ( You can't see all my acne in my pics. I Don't wear makeup so in no pic do I have any on!)

Damn! The worse thing happened ( Well maybe not the worse but something bad, Ugh ).. I tried out this natural foaming face wash that this Nurse Practitioner at Deseo Aesthetics ( Plastic Surgens Office that I go to, to get my face wash ) keeps telling me to use, but I always had a bad feeling about using it. One, because I have very sensitive skin and foaming cleansers are usually too harsh and drying for me & Two, because I'm already hooked on one face cleanser that is very gentle & I really like.. I've had bad experiences with many different cleansers in the past. So after I use the cleanser in the shower & I get out & pat dry my face... I look in the mirror...

Argggggggg! I wanted to scream! My skin had peeling crap all over my face! I doubt it's from the accutane because I've been on it for only 6 days & besides that NEVER happens when I use my other Nutra Lotion cleanser!

I didn't know what the heck to do! So me being retarded, I start trying to roll off the peeling crap with my fingers, which just made my skin red & irritated! Stupid me!
So I didn't know what to do.. So I figure, let me try & put my new moisturizer/oil thing.. No luck. It just sat on my face lookin dumb. So I was like Oh no. So I went & got a bottle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil & rubbed it all over my face, then I got back in the shower & got my Favorite Nutra Lotion cleanser & washed my skin & when I got out it was back to normal. Omg. Ugh.. I hate dealing with this damn skin! My poor skin :(

Good luck with Accutane! I've been on an 80mg dose like you for 120+ days now so if you need anything just ask. Accutane is definitely worth it. I think it's amazing how well it works. Watch out with your facial cleansers though. Make sure they aren't too rough on your skin. I say this because Accutane thins your skin, so its more prone to scratches, cuts, etc. So make sure your gentle with your skin while on Accutane! No exfoliating!

Thank you :) I was on Accutane once before. Unfortunately, it came back! Isn't that ridiculous? I don't exfoliate. I don't like being too abrasive to my poor skin! lol. But with facial cleansers I only use natural organic lotion/creamy cleansers. I have sensitive skin so I don't want to irritate my skin or dry it out. However, Last Night I listened to the Nurse Practitioner @ the Plastic Surgeons Office where I go to get my skincare. My wonderful cleanser that I love is being discontinued soon, So she urged me to try this Tecniche Natural Plantae Foaming Face wash & It I kept postponing using it because I was nervous about using something new, also the "foaming" part got me scared. I don't like anything drying my skin. So finally lastnight when I tried it, my whole face was peeling horribly! I wish I never tried it. But EVOO helped so much! :)

Day 7:

Well I guess I haven't been on the Accutane long enough to see much difference than before hand. I don't think! But it's soo stressful to just sit around & hope that it works .. Ahhh. My skin is still red, like always. Definitely a con for me because I hate the redness ! I have a few whiteheads. & also my skin is itchy.. (nothing new).. For some reason my skin is normally itchy. Due to the acne. I believe & hope that once the breakouts are gone so will the itchiness along with it. *Crosses Fingers*

I'm here! lol, and I have to say, your skin is incredibly even-toned for having acne, and your acne is really not that bad at all! I'm sure you're going to clear up in no time :)

Shannon's in the Houseeee! *Does a Dance*.. Woot Woot! Lol! & Thank You Posted Image I think it's probably worse in person! The redness is! I don't really have that bad of breakouts anymore since getting on Accutane the first time, it helped Alot. It was terrible before. I didn't have cystic acne but I did have Lots of breakouts & they would just stay there forever. I do have some scarring though! Posted Image Especially in between my eyes . Ugh I hate it. I do breakout in different places.. my face, chest & scalp! I just wish I had that perfect commercial skin that you see in tv with the women all airbrushed! Haha.

Here's a pic of the "Beginning" of my acne journey from hell.

yeap.jpg

You can see more acne there. I think that was like 4 years ago. It stayed that way for about two years & then got worse but I got on Accutane & it helped alot. I don't have a pic of my skin when it was at its worse. I wouldn't allow any pics to be taken of me at that point! I actually don't mind the way my skin looks there. Atleast my chin & forehead were clear .. But it definitely got worse. And back then my acne wasn't itchy!!

WHAT IN THE HECK CAUSES ACNE TO BE ITCHY?!

Day 10:

Well today is NOT a great day to have a breakout.. But of course I had to breakout! All in one area... The inner of my right cheek & Nose & mouth area.. All in a cludder. At first I was about to let it ruin my day... But It's Thanksgiving so I tried not to let it stress me, even though I had to be around a ton of people! I just hope this breakout goes away.. It kinda discourages me :'( I Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving!

I got a breakout right around day 10 too. :( Oh and I know, I have a huge fear of it coming back. I'm 1000000% times happier clear.

Oh my gosh! It's soo miserable! People with clear skin just don't even understand how lucky & fortunate they are to have clear smooth skin! My sisters always think I'm being over dramatic when I'm stressing over my breakouts but they'd do the same exact thing if they were in my shoes! Yeah I'm soo scared about it coming back too! I really don't wanna struggle with this any longer. & My attitude is much more positive & I'm altogether happier & funner to be around when my skin is clear. The skin problem changed me sooo much :(

I AM SO SICK OF DEALING WITH MY SKIN! I am scared that I wont get the results that I WANT.. People are telling me that my skin looks much better but I just do not see it... :( I hope things get better! It's not even just the acne, it's the overall appearance & texture of my skin that I'm concerned with! Ah Gosh, Why am I cursed? :(
