I have a slightly red face and I wear makeup (foundation) to cover up all the redness. I have really oily skin and I really want to know how to get rid of the clogged pores or maybe even the redness so i can stop wearing makeup. I wear Covergirl Trublend foundation. Powder doesn't work for me, no matter brush or pad thing. Gahh, I'm so frustrated with how big my clogged pores are! I steam my face sometimes and they still aren't open! No matter what I do, nothing works D:

Help please!?

Hey! I have similar problems. My face is always red! But I don't think it's red because of clogged pores. The redness can be from irritation from your face wash, your regimen, or even your make up. I also have oily skin so it's really important to get a good cleanser that does not irritate the skin but at the same time remove the oils. And for the clogged pores, have you tried exfoliating? Sometimes, steam is not enough to unclog pores. You should try steaming your face for about 5 minutes then exfoliating with a gentle scrub or with a face wash with salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is well known for exfoliating dead skin cells and getting rid of redness. I really advise you to talk to your dermatologist before trying these! I hope this helps!

I don't use Benzoyl peroxide because it breaks me out. But all of my washes have salicylic acid in it. Even my scrub, I use my exfoliating scrub everyday (it says its good for everyday use). And ive really been thinking about using a tinted moisturizer but I need something with good coverage! ugh...

How often do you use the exfoliating scrub? I hope you know that too much exfoliating = redness!!!!

There's the problem. You shouldn't scrub too much because it will irritate your skin, which is probably causing your redness. In my opinion, you should try exfoliating once a day. It's really up to you, morning or night, just make sure you exfoliate only once a day. So if your going to exfoliate in the morning, use a gentle cleanser at night, vice versa. If you are exfoliating once a day, you should try exfoliating once every other day?

oh... try exfoliating once every other day? If i were you, I would stick with your scrub. I think switching to a different scrub might cause you to break out? On the scrub I use, it says to use the scrub 2 to 3 times a week.

Then what are you waiting for?! Insurance covers much of the costs leaving you behind with as little as five dollars for co pay for each visit! You should look at your insurance card and see what the office visit copay amount is, discuss this with your mom, and schedule an appointment with your doctor!

Oooh, I see you use Cetaphil! I've never actually tried that... I think I should though (since my skin is sensitive to everything). How well does it clear up acne? or is it just like something besides just water...
