Both are said to be good for acne but colloidal sulfur seems to be comedogenic..
What do you guys know about this subject?

My first experiance with sulfur was the Proactiv face mask which RUINED my skin , seemed to almost burn holes into my face even though I followed directions to the letter. I have since tried a natural dead sea sulfur soap and a mask both caused the same reaction as the Proactiv and gave me pussy blisters , so safe to say I'm not a fan of sulfur! I don't normally have sensitive skin but maybe I'm just alergic to it ?! I have heard alot of other good things said about it though.

Sulfur Colloid is supposed to be good for oily skin and remove/prevent clogs in pores. However I haven't seen much hard evidence if this is true or not. I heard of a supposedly good product called Dermify a few months ago, which has 5% sulfur colloid. I ordered some but didn't really use it. I had a bad whitehead breakout caused by a staph infection at the time, so I stopped using ALL of the products in my arsenal. I just recently started the sulfur colloid again, last night actually, so will see how it goes. By the way, the Dermify directions say to THOROUGHLY RINSE off the product after 60 seconds. So I don't think it's recommended to leave on for long periods of time.

The Dermify (colloidal sulfur) worked good for about a month or so then my issues started coming back. This has been the case with many products on my skin. They work great for a short period of time then they become less effective. This was the case with BP, AHA, BHA and the list goes on. Skin (mine anyway) must have a point when it can tolerate certain things you try to combat it with. My main problem is that I get constant, daily whitehead breakouts around my mouth and chin area..GROSS!!. I've even been on doxycycline antibiotics and that cleared me up for a few months. My Rx ran out and I haven't been back to the Dermatologist. I must have some kind of sensitivity to bacteria so I'm going to go back to my old routine of Cetaphil Antibacterial bar soap and Purpose moisturizer. Maybe even a touch of Manuka honey to help lock in moisture. I don't know anymore! Bad genes + diet I guess argh!!! FML

I've tried mixing a small amount of 10% sulfur in propylene glycol base (got it off ebay) in with my moisturiser. The actual cream feels quite oily but I stopped this after a week or so because it was SOO drying, as in bits of skin flaking off your face. I dont think it did too much in terms of prevention either. I also tried it as a spot treament neat and it was ok, but not as good as sudocrem.

My daughter uses a sulfur/resorcinol medication that works well for her. She is allergic to BP. Nothing was working for her and she had moderate acne. It took a couple months, but her acne cleared about 90% and has maintained for about a year now.
