I've been reading crazy amounts of posts and seeing that certain vitamins are 'curing' people but of course they cant stay on them long because of side effects and their acne just comes back.

Like chronium and b5/pantothinic acid, these things seem to cure people. Wouldnt that be a place to start when looking for a cure for acne?..hopefully minus the side effects :/
I keep reading way too many theories about acne like that its all about your digestive system and your liver and then hearing that its actually about B5.

but the fact that people need to take like 6-10g is crazy and sadly i wish i had the guts to just to get clear but i have never even tried b5 because im scared of hair loss and of course being defendant on it forever..which i dont mind if it kept working . i suppose im so curious why we need such huge doeses of b5 to get clear? wouldnt that just over work the liver? curious why a normal does wont help? does hair loss happen at a certain does? does coenzyme a clear people too?
Its a bit confusing because i have it in my head that acne = messed up hormones and therefore possibly messed up everything like digestive system, liver etc. then hearing you can simply cure it with b5.
I really wanna take b5 but pretty concerned. im already b12 deficient which im working on with shots (not sure how that happened as i eat a lot of meat and eggs).

does anyone have opinions and advice ? :)

I didn't experience any side-effects from taking large doses of B5.. I just had completely, 100% clear skin (after a horrible IB, that is). Unfortunately, my acne slowly returned and B5 was no longer effective no matter how many I took. Just another sad case were my body found a way to become resistant. Pretty awesome. I'd give it a try if I were you, though. The IB was totally worth it, I had beautiful skin for quite some time! I traveled.. even to humid places like Mexico and was pimple-free. Normally my skin goes nuts in humidity. Good luck to you! Hope it's the answer you've been looking for.

thanks, thats makes sense. I think im really confused though which does of b5 to take to not get the side effects of hair loss.
also how is it the body can become immune to b5 so it stops working in the end? is there anything you can do to prevent that. its such a catch 22.

sorry to hear it stopped working for you :( wow i wonder why, you would think if you keep giving your body that vitamin for it to do the job it will keep doing the job?
how is your acne now?
im in such a tight spot whether to start b5 or not because if its not going to last or its going to give me side affects it might be pointless starting.

also in general, if b5 is what really helps absolutely everyone predisposed to acne how come so many people try antibiotics etc and dont believe diet is related to acne? :/

I'm not sure about the hair loss, but I didn't experience anything of the sort. Like I said, no negative side effects at all. I'm not sure why b5 stopped working, I believe that it reduces oil production..I wonder if my body just eventually found a way to continue to produce the oil like it always had. It seems like how ever our body functions naturally, its always trying to return to that state even if it means acne and me being miserable! But seriously, I would give it a try. You don't have anything to lose! If the hair loss becomes significant, just quit. I'm sure it will return to normal. I found that the Twinlab brand was most effective for me, other brands didn't work as well.. I'm not sure why, maybe less potency/added fillers or something.

I wish I knew why b5 helps some people and not others. I guess there are just so many root causes to acne out there and there's no way to know (other than the fun game of trial and error, yay..); one person's cure may be another's irritant. I think another thing to keep in mind is a lot of the remedies are only temporary and merely dealing with the symptoms and not the cause (like antibiotics, face washes, spot creams, etc.). However, hopefully through this forum sharing tips information, failures and successes, we can help one another each find their own individual leading cause and nip the acne monster in the bud.

I think half the reason is that megadosing on vitamin B5 for the rest of their lives would mean they'd have to remortgage their houses. I couldn't afford it after a month.

It does get expensive! I felt like I was ordering more online constantly. I had empty bottles everywhere... my roommate probably thought I was such a weirdo.
