I am wondering whether to get an acne lamp. My main problem is cysts and large spots. I don't have them all over my face, mainly chin and nose - maybe 3-4 a month. They are a mix of hormonal and non-hormonal, and some never come to a head. Trimethoprim antibiotic had been working very well to keep them at bay - but I have become resistant so will need to have a rest from it for a while. Other antibiotics don't work.

I know acne lamps are more for mild-moderate acne, rather than cystic? If my cysts are stopped by the antibiotic, though, does this mean that killing the bacteria in whichever way would work? I don't seem to have much luck using topicals. Often the cysts are preceded by what looks like a closed blackhead - sorry I don't know what these are called.

I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks.
