I just started month 4 @ 80mg of claravis.
Online studies indicated that most people have a 30% increase in cholesterol.
To start, my total was 122 and now it's 186 total which is an increase of 64 points.
How much did yours go up? Or is there anyone that maintained?

Hey, I finished my first course of isotretinion the beginning of September 2011. I also took claravis, 70mg. My cholesterol increased quite a bit while I was taking the medication. I started out with a higher cholesterol already (hereditary, unfortunately). Before I took the medication it was 186 and i noticed it went up about 10 points each month. I started in the beginning of March and by the beginning of September my cholesterol was 240. There wasn't anything I could do about it either because I was already eating healthy and exercising a lot to begin with. When my brother took the medication, though, his cholesterol maintained. I just think it happens to some people.

Glad to know I'm not the only one out there with this Accutane problem. I also have to work hard against heridity on a good day. Accutane made me go up 65 points in two months, but I got it down nearly 50 points through diet, fish oil, ground flax seeds, vitamins and exercise. I had to take a 10-day break, but am back on it now. My last blood test was on Jan 6. Just started month 3, but I guess I didn't fully complete month 2. I hope NOT to have to go off it again until the full five months are complete.
Started at 40 mg and am taking 60 mg now.
I found out that if you are "in ratio" ie good chol vs bd chol, then you shouldn't be as worried. Ratios should be btwn 3.5 and 5.0. I'm at 3.2 b/c my GOOD cholesterol is over 70.

Try watchn what you eat. I am pretty heavy compared to everybody else taking accutane. I exercise but not like I use to, because my time is extremely limited. I eat lots of oatmeal with fruits n honey, juice veggies every morning, eat wild salmon 3 -4 times a week. I also have high cholesterol in my fam, but I just pass up on alot of our ethnic foods we eat in my culture. Sux lol...but when I eat cute baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, celery, apples, etc during the day I really sit in class eating like they are some greasy ass chips lol....so good thing its healthy snacks hahaha
