Alright, so I have a question for those of you who use the moisturizer on a regular basis...

I'm just 4 days into the regimen and so far so good. I feel like the cleanser really cleans all traces of makeup off my skin, and the BP already seems to be doing wonders as far as clearing up my acne. It is drying, but I expected that. The only part I have an issue with is the moisturizer. I've been using 2 pumps, morning and night. I first wash my face, wait about 5 minutes, then put on the BP, wait 15 minutes, and then use the moisturizer. After applying the BP, my face is dry but only slightly red. After applying the moisturizer, my skin is insanely red, very, very, itchy and it burns! The only thing I can relate it to is the burning sensation you get if you try putting lotion on right after shaving your legs...except this is much, much worse!

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or any idea what could be causing this. Could I be allergic to something in the moisturizer or is this just what it feels like applying it after BP is already on the skin.

I was thinking about trying Cetaphil (I already own a bottle) but I don't want to give up too soon as I'm afraid it may affect the positive effects I've already been seeing from the regimen.

Any help would be much appreciated :)
Thanks!!

I personally dont care for the acne.org moisturizer. But yes, that happened to me. It was not like really really bad but the moisturizer made my face red and burn a bit. The same thing happened with my oil of olay complete (the generic version) But this only happenes in the beginning of the treatment. What I did was not use as much of anything at first. You can start out using a little then working your way up for the BP and moisturizer because it is DRYING and sucks. That is what caused me to stop asap. But once my skin stopped being dry, I tried the regimen again slowly and then worked my way up. For me personally, working my way up slowly worked just as fine. I know they say you must use alot of BP but for me I have more of like a heat rash small tiny bumps everywhere so using a little at first works good too. I was on there gimen a while ago and it really does work but I never really folllowed the full amount of product. Its just way to much for my skin to handle at first. But try using less then more later. But the moisturizer unfortunatley does do that for some.
How bad is your acne? Is it cystic or mild?

I advise keep using it for a few more weeks, the redness should go and you probably wont find a better moisturizer for the price and the amount you need to use. This is a normal sensation when mixing BP with moisturizer. Your skin should get used to it and become less red. 4 days is too early.

I only get maybe one or two cystics a month, but I always have tons and tons of white heads and big red bumps - mostly on my forehead/chin area. I just thought it was weird that my skin reacted good to the BP, but freaked out after putting on the moisturizer. I took a look at the ingredients and now I'm wondering if I could be having an adverse reaction to the jojoba oil, if that's possible.

I'm glad you suggested that because that's what I was thinking. It might just be the moisturizer reaction with the BP. I will stick it out and wait before changing anything, but I hope it'll get better soon because this is such an uncomfortable feeling!

Yes definitely give it a few more weeks because it will get better. I used to get that when i mixed the exposed moisturizer with BP when i was using exposed skincare but it went after awhile. Even let the BP dry a little longer than usual and that might help a little aswell.

Markronan, thank you so much! That last bit of advice was key...I waited about 20 minutes after applying the BP before putting on the moisturizer and it was soo much better! Still a little red and uncomfortable, but hey, at least I didn't look like I literally spray painted my face with red :P

Thank you so much!
