I have that dreaded oily skin, most probably from my family's bad genetics, though I am currently defeating it. The main thing is simply fluids. Fluids endlessly. All day if I drink lots of water and apple juice that has apple cider vinegar in it, then I won't get an oily face at the end of the day, and won't wake up with new whiteheads. The main goal is to drink enough fluids throughout the day to the point that when I urinate it looks clear. Whenever that happens the oily skin never occurs.

Yet it's such a hassle. All day with this apple cider vinegar ... I have two whole huge jugs of the stuff sitting in my room, which place apparently smells like vinegar itself. This stuff is like the focal point of my life at the moment, using it on my face and ingesting it three times a day ... usually at 2-3 tablespoon strengths since that's the max I can tolerate without becoming too gaseous.

I'm aware of when I don't drink enough and I fully anticipate suffering for it later and I do. I've also cut as much dairy out of my diet as possible, having completely disposed of drinking milk itself for many months, so no doubt that is helping me.

Therefore, if you suffer from oily skin, my hypothesis is that the clearer your urine looks, the less oily your skin will be.

If only I could drink enough every day to not form any more whiteheads, I could take a real crack at fading the redness of my skin, though what with forming new whiteheads all the time, it's tough. Real tough.

I drink lots and lots of water everyday, not just for clearing acne or anything but I'm always thirsty haha. My urine is always clear, yet I still have oily face. I don't think those are linked but if they're working for you then that's great!

I drink lots of water too, though it doesn't seem to make my face less oily. But really, apple cider vinegar helps? Why, is it because it is sour? I wonder if cranberry juice would have the same effect.

When I drink lots of water my skin is MORE oily than if I am somewhat dehydrated (i.e. after a night of drinking alcohol).
My hypothesis is that my body is genetically set to produce massive amounts of oil, and when I'm hydrated my body works to its full potential versus when I am dehydrated.

I suppose I should add that I also wear baking soda masks on my face all night, exfoliate each morning in the shower with baking soda, and rub apple cider vinegar all over there to leave on throughout the day. This makes me skin feel very smooth and healthy yet it also digs up all the redness and constantly makes clear the acne scarring that I have since the fresher skin is always exposed. Acne is both internal and external ... if you are already exfoliating and maintaining the good balance of your face, the drinking should, by reason, prevent much oil.

Also, if you are shampooing, that may also be a cause of your oily face. Once I stopped shampooing and reached the balance of things my oil production seems to have slowed overall.
