I've been taking 4 grams of B5 every day for the past week and I've started to experience hair thinning and and hair loss, even though I have short hair. So I was thinking cutting down my dosage to 500mg a day, but I'm scared that my hair loss will not stop . I've heard stories where completely eliminating the B5 still caused some hair loss afterwards. So what do you guys think I should do? Do you think lowering my dosage to 500mg will stop the hairloss?

Damn , i don't know what to suggest. I have just started today. I only bought some timed release 500mg tablets. I plan to tak 1-2 of these through the day and 1 at night/ bed(ish ) time. I am just too sceptical of the high 10g doses mentioned in some posts. Sure that may work for some people. But i can feel a sort of very faint warm tingling feeling in my face today. In essence i can feel i am "on" something.
I have also read about people having success on 500mg to 1g per day. If i had to suggest anything it would be to start with lower doses just to be safe.

I take 500 mg a day but I use it sparingly. I'm more willing to push the envelope with vitamin A/beta carotene for some reason. Maybe because I tried getting results from that before the pantothenic acid and they came. My skin's a bit drier but my spots flake off like nothing. So I've just been moisturizing/trying to take especially good care of my liver.

Your body turns beta-carotene into vitamin A which retinol (common enough topical for acne, used to use it) is a product of. You can take beta-carotene as a supplement, sure. I just eat a bag of baby carrots a day. Beta-carotene is found in most orange foods and will turn you orange if you eat too much of it. Hasn't happened to me yet but I kind of want it to. Maybe it'll give my skin a nice jersey-shore glow during this oncoming san francisco winter.
