Anyone know of a good foundation that will give a creamy/dewy finish, but won't cause breakouts?

And yet, can still cover spots??

I love Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel, I find that gives me a nice satin-creamy finish. It is very yellow undertoned, but I find that helps it cancels out some of the redness of my spots/scars. I'd say it's light/medium coverage, and for bad breakouts a dab of concealer works wonders, definitely helps keep it look natural. I've also been using it for a month now, and no breakouts so far! Hope that's helpful :)

"Most" Mineral Makeups when applied whether they are matte or not will result after wear in a dewy finish. Once the oils and warmth from your face blend with the minerals a light sheen is almost 99% there. Granted, if you use a primer not so much. I found even dusting through out the day with a finishing powder the results are a nice dewy impression-NOT an disco ball. I prefer matte mostly because it is usually free of the Bismuth that gives off that disco sheen and also the cosmetic break outs that go with the use of Bismuth in formulations. Also, some all-over-face mineral makeup brightners to the trick in the dead of winter when the air is dry and skin has a tendency to look dull. I dust them on my cheekbones, temples, and above my eyes. I use Hello Minerals for reference. Been using for a couple years without any problems. My skin tends to be very dry so I use my lotion under my mineral makeup without any troubles.

i just bought makeup forever hd foundation and i love it. i use a sponge to apply it but you can use a brush as well. it covers really well and stays put all day long. best part is that its oil free and makes my skin look look like i have no scars. you dont need a concealer with it either. great stuff! its not cheap though. you can get it at sephora.com

I dig this one too. :D I've also been using Revlon Colorstay when my skin has been really unbearably dry and it keeps pretty well because my skin doesn't get oily. Bummed out a bit because my mineral powder was so trusty but now makes me look dried out because there's no moisture in it. But Healthy Mix is a nice one, never broke me out, comes in a few different shades, good for people who can't find any yellow-toned foundations. :)

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation is medium coverage with a slight dewiness. I really love it - it's the only foundation that hasn't broken me out at ALL. (I've tried 25+)

PS. Healthy Mix Serum Gel!? Is that new?! I got my aforementioned foundation in the UK so I've never seen it... I see it on MakeupAlley and now I want it!!!

Honestly, there's not much of a difference to it from my perspective, slightly different consistency but basically the same thing.

Wow! Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I am going to look into some of these.

I have been using the Almay Blemish Healing makeup, but it just keeps me dry in the winter. I have been using this for years....like 5 or 6.

Some time in between there, I used Everyday Minerals, and I think I was too dry to really get the dewy effect from it. Also, I feel like it causes me tiny flesh colored bumps...

I am not opposed to spending a significant amount on this, I feel like I have put so much into trying lots of drugstore brands, so if I find something that works, I'll stick with it!

Try ASOS, dear. They have the Healthy Mix foundation, which is what I use, but not the Healthy Mix Serum Gel. I think the Serum Gel is relatively new so it probably hasn't been released in the states yet...

I would be careful with any foundation that contains silicones as they are occlusive and put a layer across the skin like saran wrap over your face, and they do not let your skin provide the very important task of detoxification. Bourjois healthy mix isn't very healthy at all.
The ingredient listing is ............Water, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene Glycol, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium chloride, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Tocopheryl Acetate, Alcohol Denat, Parfum, Panthenol, Alcohol, Aluminum hydroxide, Silica, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin, Pyrus malus, Zingiber officinale, Prunus armeniaca, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Benzoic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Mica, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77007, CI 77891

Basically a huge chemical mix, nothing healthy in it (except the few herbal extracts at the bottom of the list, added in for fun)
This is loaded with silicones, dimethicone being the main ingredient, pegs are derived from ethylene oxide which is extremely carcinogenic/ mutagenic (in its raw form), silica causes breakout for many, perfume is an irritant , alcohols and propylene glycol an lubricating agent used in break fluid.

I think so many of us have no idea what is in the cosmetics we are using and not only what they will do to our skin topically (now and over time) but our health as well. You will most likely continue your search for a great foundation that doesn't break you out if you keep using chemical filled products as they do nothing good for the skin, now or later. You'd be better off looking into something with ingredients you can understand that is natural based. <p class="product-details" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); ">

Might I ask what your natural and healthy recommendation is?

I really like Clinique Acne Solutions foundation, I've used Colourstay and others but I always find Clinique the best. It has never broken me out, coverage is excellent and it blends really really well. Colourstay is thick and hard to blend, I find. Clinique doesn't leave me dry but it's not too matte (some people like that look but I find it a bit corpse-ish). I like it.
The End.

Mineral makeup in general is the best thing for acne prone skin. I know there are several brands floating around here that people like. I would just say look for a brand that does not contain bismuth oxychloride, silicones or lauroyl lysine as many people experience breakouts from these. I have heard pretty good things about meow and hello minerals although I haven't tire them personally. I use faerie organics minerals as they do not cause me to breakout due to the lack of ingredients. When you are looking, it helps if the company offers sample kits (you can test it on your jawline and make sure it agrees with your skin), so you can make sure it has the right feel and coverage. I find that most mainstream cosmetics offer the same mix, "dimethicone, silicones, parabens, chemicals" etc. Those with acne prone skin also have sensitive skin which is why it is important to know your ingredients so if you have sensitivity or a breakout you know which out of the 50 ingredients is causing you irritation. I stay far away from cosmetic counters. Knowledge is power, know what you are putting on your skin. Check out http://www.notjustaprettyface.org They have tons of good info on the cosmetic industry.
