Hii everyone..

I am a newbie to these discussions and I need your help.. I had been a chronic acne sufferer for 7 years. My acne has now subsided but like many of us I am left with bunches of red, purple and brown marks on my face, especially chin, jawline and cheekbones..

I have typical Indian complexion( medium olive skin considered as fair according to Indian standards) and my marks look very prominent.

About a month ago, I started using glycolic acid cream 12% strength to fade my marks, it worked well, cleared my small freckle-like marks, helped with enlarged pores and evened out my skin tone, even helped me with the tiny bumps. But it did nothing to larger red marks. It does not give me the confidence that I had without my acne.. and I still feel like camouflaging them with makeup when I go out..

I know chemical peels are good for PIH and there are lots of stores selling them on ebay. But I heard that olive skin reacts differently to peels than Caucasian skin and there may be adverse effects of pigmentation (both hyper and hypo) and they cause irreversible damage, besides I have very sensitive skin that reacts adversely at times.

So I am quite apprehensive to try them.. but the before-after pictures are tempting me ..

Do you think chemical peels would be safe on me? What strengths and types would work for me? Please give me some authentic information..

You could try just diluting (with distilled water) some to a low percentage and then, if that goes well, slowly increasing the percentage. I did that well lactic and salicylic peels and it went perfectly well.

I'm sorry to say I can't speak as to how dangerous it is on darker skin tones. I have, however, seen guides on chemical peels by African Americans on youtube, so I'm confident that there are ways to perform a peel safely with a darker skin tone.

Low percentage. Never go above 17%. Anything higher your playing with fire. Skin tone color does not matter.

Try dan's AHA+. The licochalcone has some serious lightening action, plus it's yellow tinged, plus it's anti-inflammatory which seriously helps with the red marks. I'm struggling with this too, and I'm Indian.
