I have a few really deep, dark looking blackheads on my cheek, it looks GROSS and dirty. I cannot squeeze them out because they are deep and the angle is weird.

I have been using an astringent for almost 2 months now and they aren't even changing at all. Isn't alcohol based things suppose to kill blackheads?!

I don't know what to do now.

A facial, and let them know you specifically want those out.

Hm... Have you tried steaming and clay on those particular spots? It's not going to prevent them, but I'm amazed at all the nasty gunk a good clay mask after a steam can pull out.

I sometimes use a Queen Helene mint julep mask but I don't ever see a difference, it just feels nice to use.

Should I steam before putting on one of those masks? I usually just wash my face with warm water.

Would using a mask after a bath (not shower) be good?

The Queen Helene mask is good as a wash and a mask if you have sensitive skin, but it doesn't really have pulling power. The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, being bentonite clay, has a ton! Your face almost pulsates when you wear the mask, and if you add some ACV, it bumps up the exfoliation. It's a cheap powerful mask that'll last you a long time, and you can find it online or at a health food store/section of your grocer.

I don't think there would be a problem after a bath, but when you steam, it really helps to loosen/soften the plugs up. One thing I would advise is that you leave a day or two for healing, so your face isn't too red the next day, and the mask can also pop whiteheads. Once a week overall and maybe 2x a week for spot treatments is what I do.

Veryyyyyyy interesting. Is this the stuff? http://www.amazon.co..._cmu_pg__header

Is this hard to apply or remove? Does it hurt at all? Is it okay for sensitive skin? Lol so many questions.

That's the stuff!

It depends on the consistency of it. As a whole mask, you are better washing it off, but I admit that it helped me to kick my picking habit by using it as a spot treatment on blackheads, and peeling the mask in that applied area and seeing what I got out <.< I'd say my skin is fairly sensitive, and it doesn't hurt, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who's on accutane or has a sunburn etc. As long as you don't use it too often, you should be fine!

Cottoncandi, I agree with the facial idea. If you get a facial at a beauty school, it will be significantly cheaper and they could take care of the extractions for you.

Too socially anxious to get a facial. I haven't even gotten my haircut in a year. Anything I can do at home is alright with me.

Yep, when you suffer from SA you don't care. Just like when you're anorexic you don't "just eat".

You could try extracting them yourself with a proper blackhead extractor, it's basically a little metal rod with a sharp point on one end (for lancing whiteheads) and a small loop at the other. You just place the loop over the blackhead you want to extract and press gently.

I used to use one of these before 'Tane for the really, really dark blackheads on my nose and my pores are okay, but I never tried to force a blackhead out by pushing the extractor down hard. If you steam your face beforehand or take a warm bath and "soak" your face, extracting them is easier. Good to follow with a mask afterwards, but I probably just liked to do that because I'm a ridiculous self-pamperer.

Lots of people don't like extractors but from my own personal experience, I've always done far less damage with an extractor than I have by using my fingers or anything else.
