A lot of my friends are having babies lately and i noticed their skin is perfect either way, on the pill, off the pill, having the baby, had the baby etc. clearly their hormones are going crazy but they dont have acne :/ im curious if there is an explanation to that or if acne really is in our DNA? which of course sucks but what is it exactly that for example females that get acne with slight hormonal changes while others wont?

Do you mean is acne genetic? If that's what your asking, yes it is. Most people who have acne, have a family history of acne. Take me for example: My dad had moderately severe acne as a teen and as a result, he passed that on to me as a result of me being his son (I have moderate acne). Mom never had acne. To be honest, I have a sense of hate toward my Dad since he is the PRIMARY reason I have acne. The way I look at it is if he wasn't my Dad and I had a Dad who didn't have acne problems, I wouldn't have acne and I'd have clear skin like 80 % of the world. Depressing. Another way I look at it is if I had a different life (if I was somebody else). Why? Because my life is completely miserable ALL because of acne. Thanks acne (and Dad ...)

none of my parents had acne though and the only other person in my family to have it was my twin.
if acne is a symptom of something though i wonder what it actually is in our dna that causes it ? a lot of people have helped themselves a lot with diet and stuff but it seems there are still people who have tried every little thing possible for years and still suffering.
what are you doing at the moment for you acne?
i suppose i dont feel like im going to grow out of it, cases of growing out of it all that i've read or heard about are usually related to male, i havent read anything about females growing out of it possibly more so if im stuck on the pill to try and help it aka constant hormonal treatment.
just sucks i wish it was possible to understand WHY you know.
what is it exactly that we have that a hell of a lot of people dont :/ and then to go to such extremes to try and fix it and that still usually never works

i forgot a bit n im not quit sure about exactly "a acne gene"? P; but the whole proneness to acne thing is deffinately in your genes, in one or another way but yea. like all how your organs etc are supposed to work, react to things etc..

and pisses me off greatly, bcs what can you do against such stagnant, determined system like that, yea yea maybe few steps astray from its plan you can (improve or degrade n blah blah), but major drastic overall change? nope.

its actually like acne is not disease but part of you even Posted Image like u have nose, hair etc..and acne.

i always thought maybe it was more a symptom of something else going wrong rather than a gene itself as so many people seem to get acne from the silliest things or even treat it with the silliest things.. all these ways to get it and treat it seem to differ for just about everyone. i thought maybe it was more the gene of being more sensitive to other things than then create acne. its so frustrating, makes me so angry like we're forever stuck like this no matter what we do?
pokemonster whats your acne like? has anything helped you greatly? this is so depressing.

u_u
basically..
tried shitload.
dam persistent and stubborn to manage my acne though.
not on ideal diet tho but trying to do best i can with whats available but dont stress about some 'cheating' either, meh..

imo simply try being on good diet as much you can, sleep well, try not stress and pick good topical regimen, supplements wont hurt either if u can afford it. anyways since everyone are so different its not necessary your acne will be as bad and/or long as mine or else, each is individual case

I think it is nearly always genetic but environmental factors can trigger it. In my case neither of my parents had it but me and my sister do. I think in my case it was when the two skin types of parents were combined.

have you been able to manage your acne? its really annoying as none of my parents had it (only my dads brother i think) and no one else silbings wise got it except my twin. i hate dna :/ so many people though say its not IN your dna more theres something else wrong to cause it...wish there was a real explanation and answers were available :/

I believe there's a genetic basis for acne, but I don't believe it's something that you can trace strictly to one family member (ie, hating mom or dad because they had it).
My mother had bad acne as a teenager-- it improved after her first (of five) children. My father (supposedly) didn't have a zit in his life, but some of his siblings had hideously bad skin. Out of my four siblings and myself, only one never had formal treatment for acne. Three of us (two female, one male) have been on accutane. I have a hunch that because ance is a multi-factor thing, it's a trait that's inherited through multiple genes. Issues that supposedly cause acne: hormones, hormonal changes, diet allergies, skin type, reaction to stress-- can't get them all from one parent.

I really hope they aren't.
What a shallow and ridiculous reason to hate the people who brought you into this world. It's kind of sickening. If your parents abused you as a child, hate them all you want, but hating them because they had acne and you do too? That's absolutely revolting.
