Please be very careful when taking Minocycline my daughter had been taking it for over 6 weeks and started getting headaches, on and off but got worse every day, nothing helped....no one had mentioned this could happen so did not relate it to Minocycline.

Migraines run our family so thought it was that. She ended up in emergency room with severe headache, screaming, she had fluid in the brain but it took doctors almost 2 days to figure out what was happening, we thought meningitis or the worst a tumour but it was a surprising side effect that neither our family Dr or our pharmacy had told us could happen, yes rare but it happened to her.

The neurologist did a spinal tap to take the fluid out and relieve the pressure, pain was gone right away!! A few days later we had to go to the Oftalmologist to see if there was no optic nerve damage, fortunately there was not, she is fine now trying to catch up with a whole week of school lost....

Wikipedia explains it like this ...rare but serious side effects.... Minocycline has also been reported to cause idiopathic intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri).

Please be warned and read everything you can about it!!

I haven't known that Minocycline has this type of side effects. Thanks for sharing your experience. I guess your daughter will get well soon. Have you consult with any other doctor about this?
