ok so I'm a 19 year old male, had a history of light/moderate acne on my chin area when i was about 13-15, used to get a few deep sore cysts but nothing major, just little inflamed pimples mainly focused on my chin area which i would always make worse by squeezing :/ anyway im pretty much acne free now, my skin looks and feels very smooth, use cetaphil morning and night and take zince, cod liver oil and just recently vitamin d. I used to use cetaphil moisturiser day and night but my skin always felt so greasy so i stopped using it and just use aloe vera gel (from the pharmacy) and its much better now. I also apply benzoyl perozide 2.5% gel on my forehead, nose area and chin area every night before bed which i tihnk is one of the main contributors to my clear skin... HOWEVER... there still remains one little problem...

I guess im a perfectionist when it comes to having clear skin and am constanly looking at it up close and squeezing anything that looks blocked, again mainly my chin, and this is because when ever I'm on the bus or walking outside and the sun is on my face, i look at my reflection in my iphone and my skin is clear and smooth excpet for my chin area, it looks all bumpy and it looks like there are several comedones that are always in the same area so i freak out thinking that people can see this so i go home and get my iphone light and shine it on my chin at an angle so i can see them and start squeezing them (i know this is really bad, i tihnk i have a problem.. but anyway) sometimes a plug or whitish mossy stuff comes out or nothing comes out and i end up making it red and inflamed which turns into a scab that i have to put up with for a week or so... ANYWAY after doing heaps of research over the past couple years of having these im thinking they are sebaceuous filaments, hormonal acne or scars... majority of them im tihnking are scars because i always pick the same ones and nothing ever comes out of them, onoce they heal u can see them, only in the sunlight at an angle, i know this all must sound so pathetic considering other people have it so much worse and im worried about a few little bumps on my chin but im sick of seeing other people with normal looking chins and i just want mine gone, so any help on what these are and how to get rid of them would be great, thanks :)

i have the same problem! my chin was looking great last week with no bumps and then i switched moisturizers and got a few. i was so pissed. i usually can't get rid of them unless i squeeze them out. but some of them go away when i blast them with tons of BP. try using BP twice a day instead. and put a lot on it followed by a moisturizer. if your chin gets oily like mine, use those oil blotting sheets throughout the day to keep it from getting clogged. also don't touch your skin at all, don't even rest your hand on it. that's what i was doing when it was cleared up.

thanks for the reply, i used to use bp twice a day but got worried that i might have been over doing it and i find that only washing my face once in the morning and putting aloe on makes my face feel more fresh by not having tons of ointments and crap on it but i might consider it but i agree, sometimes after picking i put a thick thick layer of bp and its all dried out in the morning but i think i just have to stop looking at my relfection in the sunlight and hope that they will pass but im always conscious about touching my face, i never lead my chin on my hand haha anyway thanks for the reply again

ugh i feel for you because i had some bumps on my chin and they drove me nuts. i dont notice them until i am at work since my office has fluorescent lights. i have my own office and it makes it so easy to just pick at them all day. so last week i went to get a facial and the lady spent a half hour doing extractions. my chin looks a lot better now after she was done with it so you could also try that. just look for an esthetician in your area that has a lot of experience doing extractions.

i went to a beauty spa kinda place cause i wanted to get micro dermabrasion, so i went for a consultation and the lady said she wouldnt reccomend it because my skin looked fine, she shone this big fluorescent light on my face and she didnt see anything on my chin but i know its there and it drives me crazy, so she reccomended some products to use called ENVRION and omg after 2 days of using it it broke me out all on my forehead and i never break out there and i emailed her and she said to keep using it but i didnt i was so freaked out, finally clearned it up after about 2 months so never going back there again but i might look into another place to get extractions but i really think these are scars from past breakouts or something i dunno, i really wanna go to a dermatologist to get a professional diagnosis but they are so expensive and u have to wait ages until u can finally see one and after lost of reading most dermatologist take people down a path of never ending prescritions that end up not working, anyway that for ur reply, i might look into getting a facial, i never knew what a facial was, so is it just like extractions and they clean ur face? does it leave any marks that have to heal and do u have to keep going back cause usually when i extract mine they come back a few days later, arrghhh this is never ending i just hope i grow out of it

i get my facials from a medical spa. they dont always do extractions it just depends on the esthetician. i didnt even tell the lady about my chin she noticed it right away. she steamed my face for about 15 minutes after she cleaned it really well and then put a hot towel on my face. she then did the extractions and i will tell you it hurt and she probably hit about 50 areas of my face. i didnt even know there were so many areas to extract -ha ha!!! i was worried that my face would be one big red mark but afterwards she put another hot towel on it for for a while and then cleaned it, put some toner on and then some lotion and i was done. when i left i could barely tell she did anything. i had 2 small areas on my chin that were a little red and slightly raised but the next day everything looked great. best decision i ever made and wish i started doing these sooner, just get somebody that has alot of experience. the lady that did mine is from europe and has been doing them for over 25 years and it only cost me $50! you can get them done at a plastic surgeons office too basically anywhere that does facials.
