Hi I am new to this forum, but I just read some posts that were very helpful to me so I thought I would post. I am a 50 year old woman who has battled cystic acne for 30 years. I had a deep dermabrasion in 1983, poor results for the pain that was involved and collagen injections in 1985 very unhappy with the results, and didnt last.

I have researching lasers and I decided to go with Hartsough dermatology clinic. Very professional and helpful and are the premiere skin clinic in my area.

My dr. and I are starting a series of treatments to achieve at least 50 percent reduction in scars. I just had the sciton Profractional laser treatment oct. 30 2011.

If you go to my facebook page patricia kelley earp, you will see my journey unfold

We are starting with sciton, then healing for 3 months. I went to 250 deep, and it did hurt I am not going ot lie. Next treatment they want to go to 400. Planning on more of pain block for that one.

In a year the finishing touches witll be botox and filler. Post away and support me on this exicting journey to get rid of those darn acne scars~

This is my third day of healing, and I have to say it is not painful. I have redness and swelling and some blood in my pores, and funky tire tracks on my face lol from the laser. That will be gone in the healing process. Has anyone looked at my pics on facebook, anyone else gone really deep and had more treatments that can add to my thread~

i spent $5000 on that treatment and it really didn't improve anything. The scars are still there just like they were... at first I thought it did but after a fews months they returned.

Well, I am also 50-ish, and I had dermabrasioin with Dr. Yarborough in New Orleans 13 years ago. He was supposed to be "the best." But, it tore open my ice pick scars and made them into boxcar scars, I guess you'd say. Some ice pick scars still there. Made all my pores larger. Made the rest of my skin orange-peelish. Instead of looking like I had acne, I looked like an animal had scratched my face. I did everything right, and the healing process actually went very well. No problems. Due to swelling for the first month, it initially looked like my scarring was better, but then gradually, it became worse. Don't do dermabrasion, people, and from what I've read about Fraxel, I would say don't do that either. I'm still self-conscious of my scarring, but I've learned to live with it. If there was something that would work, I'd pay $50,000 to do it. But, I've come to the conclusion that there is nothing. Don't get depressed the way I did, and gain weight because of this, young people. Just move on. It's all I can say.
