Hello all! I rarely venture to this portion of the org but today I thought I would give it a try. I have been on this website for years, some might know me, some might not. Regardless, I stopped wearing makeup about a year and a bit ago. It was mostly due to weather issues ( I moved someplace really hot), but also because I was at a place where I felt emotionally free to not hide behind it (because that's what makeup had become for me).

Fast forward to the present...my skin is clear, and I still love the feeling of being able to walk around without worrying about it but on the other hand, I'd like to get back into makeup for simply fun purposes so...here is where you lovely people come in! Here is my face sans makeup, I'd appreciate any product recommendations or simply general looks.

Thank you much! =)

You look simply stunning without! I'm a huge advocate of makeup for myself...but if my complexion looked like that I would never bother. If it ain't broke!

You look gorgeous!

As for makeup... what kind are we talking, honestly? Skin stuff? Eye stuff? Lip stuff?

Thanks all, it really means a lot to me! As for makeup, I think I"m looking for a general "look" above all else. So a combination of eye/lip products and maybe pressed powder for minimal coverage (simply to pull the look together). I walked down the makeup aisle the other day at a department store and was completely at a loss for what to purchase.

Hmm, well I can give you my basic makeup essentials (stuff I used before I got acne). Most of them work for most skin tones and most of the products can be found at Sephora or major department stores or whatever, so hopefully you'll find something to suit you:

Face (for the record, I used most of this stuff very rarely because I used to have very good skin - the only thing I used regularly was the concealer for dark circles/old PIH):
Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
Foundation: Makeup Forever HD
Cover-up/Concealer: Amazing Concealer
Powder: Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder
Tinted Moisturizer: Bobbi Brown SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer
Blush: Either NARS Orgasm or Benefit Benetint
Highlighter: Benefit Moonbeam

Lips:
"Holy Grail" Natural Lip Shade: Chanel Coco Rouge in Boy (love the Chanel lipsticks in general, actually, and Estee Lauder also has some really nice textures/shades)
Lip Stain: Benefit Benetint
Lip Balm: Rosebud Salve Lip Balm or Vaseline
Lip Gloss: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss in Rose Sunset
Other: Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey

Eyes:
Pencil Eyeliner: Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes in Mat Black
Liquid Liner: Gosh Extremely Waterproof in Black
Cream/Gel Eyeliner: Bobbi Brown (in Jet Black and Caviar Ink)
Eyeshadow (palettes): Clinique Eyeshadow Quads in Black Honey (as far as I know this is a limited edition, though...)
Eyeshadow (singles): Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Heather (my favourite shade) and Stila Eye Shadow in Kitten
Mascara: I use two, primarily - Maybelline Volum' Express One By One in Black (everyday) and Imju Fiberwig Mascara (the original, for layering) also in Black
Eyelash Curler: Shu Uemura

For the record, I used to only use the Benetint, Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, and Amazing Concealer (and sometimes the Stila Kitten and Maybelline One By One) on a daily basis. The rest of the products I would use/not use depending on what I was doing that night, like going to a casual dinner with friends vs. going to a party vs. going on a date.

Hope that was helpful!

(Edit: Oh god, it occurs to me just now after typing all that out just how expensive my makeup collection - which is about twice to three times the amount of stuff I've listed here, plus brushes (I use Quo and The Body Shop, for the record) - probably is, and how much money I'm losing now that I can't use any of it. SOB.)

Oh my gosh, no makeup for you! I work day-in day-out for your complexion, lol.

If I ever wear makeup, here's my general prescription:

- dash of blush
- very light, peach colored eyeshadow to blend around the eye (under lower lids too) that will brighten the eyes
- the reddest lipstick you can find, with two dashes on each lip to blend for a red tint, then protect with lip salve (this looks different than lip gloss and lots of lip stick; it makes your lips look richer, not caked on)
- a bit of mascara on upper lashes to make them pop

No secret formula for me. The best makeup just something that enhances what's already there imo. Beautiful Posted Image

PS Although I don't see any redness, it might come in handy to conceal around the lips and nose area. That can get a little red sometimes.

Your skin is gorgeous!!! I work in a makeup store and if you were one of my customers I would honestly just recommend maybe tinted moisturizer or a color correcting product to even everything out. Recently I've been loving Keep the Peace by Philosophy. It's a redness correcting "moisturizer" (I call it a balm) and it has spf 20. You can also use it as a makeup primer but with your skin you could probably just use that on its own. Some people find it to be too greasy but I find if you apply a small amount there's literally nothing better. I've had my tube for about 3 months now and I haven't even made a dent, it's a great value. Other than that, maybe some mascara and a bit of blush and you would be good to go. :) Makeup can be really fun but I love when people rock the natural look!

youre so pretty!
i love the sweet, natural look, like a light, sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer, and a light rosy/coral-y blush, mascara, and any neutral eyeshadow (my favorite would be beige-y or pearly and shimmmery :)) oh and just regular chapstick or lightly tinted lip balm

yeah, im in agreement with everybody saying u have really nice skin. i wouldn't even bother with powder or anything if i were you.

some product suggestions:
-milani baked blush in luminoso .. this is a peachy blush that i think is prob flattering on everybody bc it's pigmented, and you can control the intensity of it.
-i would play up your eyes. they're already attention grabbing .. haha. but mascara, and some neutral eyeshadows would prob make them more intense. i like the shadows from physician's formula in baked oatmeal.
-if you wanted to use a gloss on your lips, i really like love nectar from mac. it's a lustreglass, and i think it looks good on top of almost any lip color. my favorite lip treatment is fresh lip balm in sugar. it has SPF, and it feels yummy on the lips. def worth the money.

good luck. makeup is so fun! lol.

I think a red lip with some mascara and eyeliner would go beautifully with your pale skin and dark hair.
Maybe not for everyday, but for a night out or something :)

Thank you all! It's a bit crazy sometimes to hear people say such great things about my skin, because not until a couple months ago was it near this! I owe a lot to Dan's regimen and the org in general.

Thank you for the product recommendations, because I really do need them. I'd love to get a nice red lip color and some quality mascara to, as you all say, play up what features I do have. It's such fun!

You all rock and I think I'll be visiting this forum more often for fun. =)

aww : ) that's so sweet! i know what you mean about the skin thing. about mascara .. i think there are a lot of mascaras out there that put ppl off bc the wand grabs too much product. i like l'oreal voluminous in waterproof, but i def have to swipe that thing on some napkins for it to separate my lashes, and not get clumpy.

in general, i think there's a misconception that you have to spend a lot on makeup to get the look you want. it might take some research .. hehe .. but you can def look good on budget ; ) kairasa, once you find a look that you like, you should post a pic : )

You don't really need makeup, however I would say mineral makeup is the only thing I would use if I were you, something with the least amount of ingredients possible. If you have gotten your skin to this clear state I would hate to see you start to muck it up by putting chemicals and fillers on it that would start the acne process all over again. Remember liquids contain water so they have to be preserved and often have added ingredients to make it go on smoothly and smell nice. Mineral makeup is in powder form so it does not need to be preserved. It also looks the most natural and does not take much to cover and (the brand I use) does not clog pores (all mineral makeup is not created equal so read labels) stick with those with the least amount of ingredients. All you would need is a dusting of some foundation, a spot of blush, 2 eyeshadows, 1 in a soft pearly beige and a darker color for the outer eye like a eggplant color. Eyeliner is up to you and top with mascara. Wala!

Thank you all for the suggestions! I still haven't bought any makeup yet, but I'm thinking about it.

Does anyone want to volunteer to be my official makeup purchase companion? haha. You all seem to know the world so much better than I in cosmetics land. All those different shades confuse a gal!

It's crazy how I can dress myself but yet I cannot figure out makeup. =P
