I've been usin' Retin-A since April. I've been using it along with Doxy and Spiro and BP 5%. I guess the improvements are from those 3 meds, Retin-A is basically useless. My derm doesn't think so tho, he says that I have to be patient with that topical, and stick with it for awhile. I don't really understand how does it funcion and what does it figh against.
Does someone have positive experience with this topical treatment and how long does it take to see some results?

I have had a lot of success with Retin-A in the past. My skin, which is prone to seb. dermatitis, really seems to like acids, though. For me, positive results have almost been wholly contigent on the tretinoin base and strength. For instance, the generic alcohol based tretinoin gel produces giant cysts overnight. I can not tolerate large quantities of alcohol in my cosmetics, and you can actually see the alcohol running off the gel before the fumes hit your nose. Ick. The cream exacerbated my acne, also. Retin A Micro was a Godsend, though, and both times I fell back on it in my 20's- it obliterated whatever bump or discoloration present. I used the lowest strength at .04 and it kept the initial breakout to a minimum.
