Hi All,
Just a bit of background info on me, I'm a white 27 year old UK male. I developed severe acne at the age of 15, tried all the over the counter products, about 4 or 5 different antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide solution etc and nothing ever worked, until I went on a 4 month course of Roaccutane. Although I had very mild scarring, my skin was oil free and blemish free and looked wonderful, up until around 2 years ago.
Around 2 years ago, I noticed a slight increase in oil production. As the weeks went by, I began getting large red cycts on my jawline and below my ears and my face became very oily. I rushed to see my dermatologist, and cutting a very long story short, I was put on a 10 MONTH course of Roaccutane, which I finished in the beginning of January this year. As it now stands, in October, my skin is very oily again. By this I mean that if I wash my face in the morning, it will take around 3 hours to notice the shine on my face. At the same time, I have very large red pores, and red icepick scarring all over my cheeks. I have also started to develop tiny blemishes on my forehead (skin colour) and to be honest, my skin looks terrible.
I am now considering, within the next few weeks, getting a course of laser surgery as I am sick to death of having oily, red-scarred skin and also ever increasing belmishes. I have seen many teenagers with better skin than what I currently have. Now from what I understand, and I have tried to research this, there are different types of laser treatment packages available, which I know are expensive, but I am now becoming depressed - especially as I was blemish and oil free throughout the latter part of my teenage years and early to mid twenties.
...and this is the confusing bit....
Is there a laser treatment package that can treat oily skin (for example, shrinking the sebacious glands) as well as treating scarring, because i cannot find any information on this at all. It has been proved, by myself, that things like anti-biotics, over the counter medications, facial washes and scrubs, diet, green tea etc do not work for me, and I really cannot take another course of Roaccutane, so if anyone has any info on this, can you please let me know. I have been recommended a CO2 fractional laser, although as far as I am aware this will only treat scarring and not the underlying problem of oily skin.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Anthony.

Not sure if the treatment I am using treats deep scarring like what you've experienced but right now I'm doing Acleara. I don't know if it is available in the UK, it is a pretty new treatment but the information about it/the posts I recently made are in my signature. Links, that is.
I am in the EXACT same situation as you. Other than the scars, of course. But I am very fair and have some hyperpigmentation. Talk to your derm about it. Because this is probably one of the very few treatments that does treat clogged pores and oily skin specifically.

I think low dose accutane is the only thing that shrinks the glands.
