Well, I really did want to let those wondering if it works and those ust starting to know about my progress.
For the record, before the regimen I was washing my face twice a day with Noxzema, which was the most effective product I had found to that point. If I did it for 2 weeks straight I would see improvement but I was never fully clear.
I went to a dermatologist after years of begging to be taken. And whatever he prescribed me bruned my skin so badly it cracked open after the first use and I didnt use it again. Im guessing that was 10% BP? I was also concerned that what he gave me may not be vegetarian.
While I was browsing a vegan website I saw the ad and thought Id check out the product. The only reason I actually bought it was because of the testimonies, and the fact that the people who used it didnt sound phony and only have positive things to say, they mentioned flaws and had some issues that needed to be resolved. They were human. But everyone seemed to be in agreement that the product was still very effective. So I tried it.
Lets see, I started off buying the smaller bottles of the cleanser, treatment and moisturizer, pretty much only what you need to get started as the site directs.
I had read that you need to try the regimen as directed for 3 months before you made a decision, and that in some cases, you wont see improvement at all until the first 2 weeks have passed. It's one of those things that makes you sigh heavily over the though of having to work so hard and wait so long just to see if its going to do anything for you and MY GOD are we impatient, especially after years of having this crap on our faces.
So i expected this to take some time. But I was lucky. After the first night I actually saw substantial improvement (ALOT more than I was used to in 1 night). My skin wasnt clear, but it was so so much better than the day before, the day before that, and the day before that..
So luckily I was encouraged to continue. I understand that these results are unusual however, but my god am I thankful. I have difficulty with motivation. (Took 2 years to write my progress log
I did indeed break out as the site said I would. This is all the acne thats on its way to the surface being pulled up which is actually a good thing as it means theyre healing much much much much faster than what Im used to. I dont know if anyone else gets there but sometimes I have a sensitive spot on my face for a week straight that I know is a blemish on its way to the surface.
Im used to it taking about 1 week to get to the surface and 1 week to go away, which usually isnt in the healthy fashion. i pick too much and most of my blemishes end as scabs. Maybe if they went away in a day or two it wouldnt be a problem but mine dont. They stay for at least 2 weeks. And in that time more come to take a vacation on my face for just as long. my face has become a hotel resort for families of acne. Apparently its got high ratings because they dont want to leave, and they come back next year and refer friends.
Back to speaking literally, within the first few days that sensitive spot surfaced. Within a few more days it was gone. I am not used to that. At this point I think it was the end of my first week, and I was so thrilled I already started to tell people I know about the Regimen.
They saw the results to and were equally impressed.
By the end of my first week, most of the larger acne and the ones that were pulled to the surface already were gone, or had become quite small. I discovered at this point that I had very, very many very small bumps all over my face which I could never even see because of the large acne on my face. So I still had a very uneven texture.
By the end of my second week every single small bump was gone. All I had left were red marks and scars (not quite as bad as it sounds, I put makeup on and my skin looked perfect). But the site mentions that even they go away over time with continual use, because no more acne comes along ot create more red marks and scars.
I have been on and off the regimen for reasons not linked to the regimen itself, I swear by it at this point.
I did have some gripes in the beginning and still have an issue, but Im working to resolve those.
CONS:
The BP and moisturizer would slip into my eyes and mouth when I slept, even when I didnt put it near my eyes or mouth.
This seemed to get better when I switched to toothpaste as a facewash but thats no good in the fall and winter.
Right now Im using St Ives Timeless skin facewash and regimen BP and regimen moisturizer and its slipping into my eyes and skin again, so Im going to try putting powder around my eyes and mouth before applying BP and moisturizer to see if it will catch the slippery combination.
PROS:
This regimen honestly clears my skin up so so much faster than anything Ive ever used, and when used right will actually make your skin softer. It eliminated all bumps I had on my face. All of them.
My past regimens:
Night:regimen cleanser, regimen BP and regimen moisturizer. Morning: regimen cleanser, regimen moisturizer.
Night: Noxzema, regimen BP , regimen Moisturizer. Morning: Noxzema, regimen moisturizer.
Night:toothpaste, regimen BP, regimen moisturizer. Morning: toothpaste, regimen moisturizer.
Current regimen:
Night:St Ives Timeless Skin apricot facial scrub, regimen BP, regimen moisturizer
Morning: St Ives Timeless Skin apricot facial scrub, regimen moisturizer.
I apply sunblock when needed.
note:
I had to keep changing face washes because I found that the regimen face wash ran out too quickly for me, I had to use alot of it to get it to lather at all, and wash my face twice a day when I only do the regimen once a day so it just went too quickly for me.
Im pretty sure Noxzema isnt vegetarian. So I stopped using it.
Toothpaste is very effective in clearing skin but is too drying in the fall and winter. Too harsh.
So right now St Ives is softening and exfoliating my skin but it might be part of the reason the regimen is slipping around my face again.
NEXT UP:
AHA or an at-home microdermabrasion regimen in alternattion with the acne.org regimen.
I need to edit the crap out of this I just think its most important I put my thoughts down right now. Sorry its unorganized.
EDIT 10 14 11:
Ive been testing putting powder around my eyes and mouth and yes it does seem to be helping substantially in keeping the BP/moisturizer mixture out of my eyes and mouth!!
I wash my face, let it dry for the most part, apply a translucent mattifying powder all around my eyes and mouth and then apply the BP, then moisturizer. Its been working very well. I am very pleased. Im just going to have to buy more of the powder to make up for what Im applying at night.
