Finally went to the derm yesterday after a pretty bad face asplosion last week. I started trying a couple new products at once about a month ago so I'm not sure if and which one of them's behind it, but I don't think my acne's ever been quite this bad.

Anyways, here's my routine I started last night.

Morning
Cetaphil cleanser*
CeraVe moisturizer
Duac

Evening
Olive oil cleanse (around 3x a week)
Cetaphil cleanser
CeraVe moisturizer
Tazorac .05%

*Currently using the Target brand, same shit but cheaper. Might switch to CeraVe cleanser.

Day 1:
Skin is a little pink and itchy, not sure if that's from the medicine or the long walk from my car to the gym this morning in the sun. I need to find a good sunscreen. I have some of that Eucerin stuff, but I'm reluctant to add anything to my routine right now in fear of more face asplosions.

4-5 new pimples on the left side of my face. That huge zit orgy on my chin has dwindled down to just one lone pustule and what will soon be some annoying scars.

I'm gonna start a 2 days on/1 day off routine until my skin adjusts to the new medicine. It was really pink and itchy yesterday.

Week 2.

My skin's started getting pink from the sun when I walk to the gym (and I'm in direct sunlight for all of almost two minutes collectively). I guess I'll start using that Eucerin sun screen and hope it doesn't make me break out more. I'm not sure if I can apply it in the morning before class and it'll work when I walk to the gym at 12:30 or if I'll have to reapply it even before I've had any sun exposure.

The pimples from my last update have gone down, now 5-6 new ones have found new homes on my chin.

Week 3.

I have around six active pimples on my face and a few under my chin. I started my period three days ago so some of them might just be hormonal. It's about time for the initial breakout, but hopefully the Duac will help with that.

It seems like the pores on my nose are a lot less congested than usual. I'm crossing my fingers.

I've started slathering on the Eucerin before I walk to the gym and it's pretty much eliminated all the irritation from the sun.

I have a lot of broken capillaries on and around my nose from picking at blackheads too much. I'm going to look into treatments for that since (as far as I know) they don't heal on their own. Is there any way to reduce them other than laser treatments? If anyone has any experience with this, I'd love to hear about it.

Today I woke up with an extremely swollen eyelid (seriously, I looked like a mong). I try to change my pillowcase nightly, but I think I forgot to last night. I guess some of the tazorac is rubbing off on my pillow and irritating my eyelids.

This has happened three times since I began this regimen so I thought it was worth mentioning.

Day 18 Pictures.
I think the initial breakout is beginning. Mostly just scarring on the right side of my face, but the left has around 7 active pimples, as does under my chin.

Edited my 1st post as I'm not using any foundation until my skin clears up (although I'll probably make one or two exceptions). I'm also oil cleansing whenever I use sunscreen because the cetaphil's so gentle and it doesn't always remove all of it.

My derm told me tazorac is one of the strongest retinoids so I'm not quite sure why she put me on it, either. Maybe it's good for scarring? Iunno.

Cutting all peanut butter from my diet (again) except for the PB in the protein bars I make.
I read that breakouts from PB could just be from the hydrogenated oils, so I started eating the organic stuff a couple weeks ago (I had previously stopped eating it altogether). I'm switching back to almond butter for the most part until the initial breakout's done and I can pinpoint what causes my acne.
