Hello,
I am on week two of the DKR, and I'm finding that my skin is very dry only around my chin/mouth. That being said, my makeup is beginning to look rediculous. I know that no make up is the best makeup, but I have to wear something.
Currently, I use the Almay Skin Clearing makeup, which has sacyilic acid in it, so I'm assuming this isn't helping my dryness issue. In any case, I need another drugstore makupe that is okay to use on ance prone, sensitive skin. I have been using the Almay for about 3 years now, and it doesn't make my acne worse from what I know..just the same old persistant hormonal breakouts around the chin.
Anyways...I need a makeup that will moisturize more than dry, and it has to have yellow undertones...I pull warm tones on light skin...and if there is pink in the makeup...my face is pink.
Any advice is appreciated!

hi,
if you're on the DKR, you shouldn't be using a cleanser with any medication in it. Dan recommends using something simple like clean and clear foaming facial cleanser or neutrogena extra gentle cleanser. the salicylic acid is probably adding to your dryness. you are going to be dry throughout the regimen. I'm having the same issue and I'm in week 5. I can barely open my mouth to eat a sandwich without a thousand little flakes happening. It'll get better though. I use neutrogena skin clearing makeup (the liquid kind) I used to use the Almay stick that "heals blemishes" but it would be like chalk and dry too quickly. I really like the neutrogena. They have a powder too. I'm not sure about the yellow undertones, but you can always get it at walmart and if you hate it take it back =)

Does Almay make one of the same foundation without the SA? If so, buy that. Moisturize. Allow lotion so sink in. Mix your your foundation with your face lotion and build coverage from there. Repeat if needed. It's a pain in the butt-but I had the same situation a few years back.

Thanks for the tips.
Whatthekell- I am not using a medicated cleanser, I use cetaphil...the Almay Clear Complexion makeup has the SA in it.
and gemmyjunebug- There is an Almay foundation that is a line smoothing makeup, I was considering buying that next. I have been moisturizing in the AM, however, when I put my BP on at night, I wasn't moisturizing after that, and so I think that didn't help my cause.

So I used my AHA last night, and what a world of difference. The flakes are gone and I can wear my makeup although I still think I am going to change it to the one that isn't medicated so that the Acanya Gel can do it's own thing.
I still find that my skin tone is somewhat of a different color around my mouth than everywhere else...perhaps this is because I don't put the Acanya there?? Direcectly around my lips that is, and so everything else is just slightly redish and irritated.

it sounds like the aha is working well for you. exfoliating works for me. i know you're not supposed to use any additional products when you first start, but i think it depends on your skin. exfoliating+primer gets rid of most of my flakes. and it also helps if your makeup isn't drying. certain pressed powders reallllly accentuate flakes on your face. i have no idea why.

I think moisturizing in the pm helps. If I fall asleep waiting for bp to dry so I can put on moisturizer my skin is more dry and flaky.
