So today, I went to the derm at my local Kaiser. I am 14 turning 15 late November. I've had acne for 1 year and 2ish months. Its quite severe.
I have it on my forehead, inbetween my eyebrows sometimes, where my mustache is, and my chin area. However, the chin and mustache area has slowed down a little in acne. My forehead at the moment is the worst its ever been.
He suggested me these items;
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
Purpose Dual Treatment Moisture Lotion SPF 15
Benzoyl Peroxide 10% - for my bacne-chest in the shower
Doxycycline 100mg Tablets
Erythomycin and Benzoyl Peroxide Topical Gel, USP.
Has anyone tried any of these? I dont know which order to use them in..
this is the order i am planning to use it in-
BP 10% in the shower,
when i get out the shower i will use Cetaphil Cleanser,
Purpose Lotion with SPF 15,
and around 10 AM during school i will take 1 Doxycycline Tablet, because my lunch is at 12 o'clock.
and to end the day, i will take another Doxycycline Tablet,
Cleanse again with Cetaphil, then apply Erythomycin and BP.
Is this a good idea? I can't wake up early enough to put the E&BP AND the Purpose lotion.
Thank you, I'm looking to clear this acne up!

Hi
Best of luck with your course of Doxy. I'm taking it at the moment, started this week. It may not be something which clears your skin forever, but there's no reason why it shouldn't allow you maintain good skin and feel like you have control of what your skin does.
My advice would be to go easy with the BP. Start slowly with small amounts and allow your skin to get used to it. It can be very harsh otherwise and only ends up causing more problems.
Good luck!

it is quite awkward how kaiser is so willing to prescribe antibiotics for acne.
