I just got a shot 7 days ago, and it left a like a dent five days later I called my derm and he told me the only thing to do was put retin a on it and wait, or get a filler?
How much bigger can I expect this thing to get? Should I get the filler now or wait? I am 34 so I don't know how good my cologen will reproduce.
this is stressing me out.

I've had a few shots before (and another one scheduled for Thursday morning) and I've gotten scars because of them. Personally, I would rather have a scar to cover than a huge hideous cyst (although yours might not be as awful as mine!) From my experience, the indentation usually fills itself in slowly over time. I have several scars- and the ones that I cannot cover with makeup, the horrible ones, are actually scars I helped create myself by picking at cysts and kind of burning my skin with too much undiluted tea tree oil. The indentations from cortisone shots are far less noticeable, even though the cysts I got injected were WAY more severe than the others. Basically what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't worry too much about it. I know that is a difficult thing to do, but it will look better. And if it helps at all, I can't even SEE what scar/indentation you're talking about from your picture! Your skin looks pretty gorgeous to me. :)

seriously what scar?

Was this a regular pustule papule or was it an actual cyst? how long did the cyst remain on your face before you got it injected?

Sereliz hey thanks for the nice words. It was a cyst, and it was there for 21 days before the injection.

I am not trying to sound mean or aggressive by saying that is really "nothing" to worry about. I have 2 scars the size of pencil erasers that are dark red/look like bruises on my face from repeated shots in a few bad cysts. just up your vitamin c intake, which can help speed up collagen production! you look great, be happy :)

Goddamitdani, I am sorry about your scars. I took your advice and bought vitamin C capsules. I may look ok from the picture, but thats just a portion of my face, I don't think I look good, but thanks. And happiness is a state of mind, I think my mind will never possess. 0-o

Although I don't know a great deal about this kind of thing - fillers and so on - I have read stories here of people trying to make things better but inadvertently making them worse. Those situations where we step back and think, 'Compared to what I've done now, it didn't seem so bad before, I wish I could have accepted it'. I think acceptance is the key. Not in the sense of giving up because you can still improve it, but in the sense that it could be worse and there are still clearly areas of your skin you can be very pleased with.

I'd be tempted to go down a more holistic route with it - like the vitamins as mentioned - and see if you can encourage your skin to heal it on it's own accord.

From what I can see, your skin is doing so well. Obviously not a complete picture, but this particular image is really close and there's next to nothing to pick fault with. Even when I just manage to make out the scar, honestly, it fades in comparison to how beautiful I think your skin looks. Happiness can indeed be a state of mind and I know you can get there even if that may turn out be a bigger hurdle than clearing your skin, because you deserve to be happy in your own skin and with who you are.

demona, you and your skin are beautiful. I honestly can't see the scar you're talking about.

Don't go to that derm again, the derm no doubt could tell you have low self-esteem and wanted you to buy all sorts of fillers and stuff from her. I know you've tried a lot of derms already but keep looking or consider going back to one of the other ones you've tried.

You need an honest assessment of your skin, not one that's driven by greed. There are derms like that out there!

Paul I have really considered what you said to do. It helped me to rationalize that yes it could get worse instead of better, and that I don't think I want to risk. Holistic approach seems more logical.
Paul you always offer such great advice to me, and for that I am thankful. Your so kind. Also thank you Wynne. :)

I just call it as I see it. The last thing we would want is for you to seriously think of it as being bad, to the point where you made it worse and went beyond the point of no return in terms of being able to fix it. As it is, it should only get better over time if you allow it and there's no real reason why is should get bigger or worse. Be gentle with it and, with any luck, it'll be kind in return and go the hell away! Posted Image

Maybe there's a lesson in there somewhere with regards to not getting shots and things. Maybe they do work sometimes, but it does seem like it's still a pretty traumatic thing to go through and, as with everything acne related, there are no guarantees or sure-fire cures. There are times I'm sure when a dermatologist is a vital port of call and can do a great job so I wouldn't thing bad of them all, but perhaps it does serve as a warning for future reference not to try anything too invasive. As with everything, perhaps it takes time to find the right one to go and see who will work with you to do what is best for you and not their bank balance. Same for estheticians; I'm sure there are some great ones out there who make it their business to give the best care and attention. Thinking about it, I know we have at least one on these boards. bek_cogent is an esthetician, perhaps she might have some suggestions on what products you could use and how best to take care of it going forward.

Posted Image Don't hate yourself because there's nothing to hate. It's not vain anything like that. I don't doubt that there are people who would kill to have skin as great as yours, but I always think that severity can be relative where the emotional impact is concerned. Some people have bad acne but can happily go about their business without a care. Some of us, for whatever reason - myself included - might be stopped in our tracks and feel very down at the sight of even just a single pimple. It's not shallow or ignorant or any other derogatory term we could care to throw at ourselves. It's just matter of fact that some people feel differently about themselves and about how they are perceived. Their insecurity is easier to tap into so they're all together more fragile where such things are concerned. And there's nothing wrong with a good cry you know, I'm sure many of us have been there! Truthfully, I had to try and find it in todays picture. Like I said before, I honestly think your skin is beautiful and the odd pimple or scar here and there really would not change that. As it is, I can only assume that the scar's healing itself because, to me at least, it's really reduced in size. :)

Hey Paul thanks. When it first dented I showed my mom and told her it could continue to get worse. She told me she didn't see anything to spare my feelings, but later confided to me today that yes when it first came she saw it and thought to herself I hope it doesn't get worse for her, or she really will have a meltdown. Today she said it improved about 65 percent. I hope in another week or two it will be gone. (please god) Wouldn't you know that when the cyst on top of my lip started to calm down, (it looked like i had a huge piece of cotton stuck under my lip) another cyst popped up on the other cheek.

At Demona wow I gotta compliment you on your skin, I wish my skin looked like yours. I have acne all over my cheeks it's terrible. Honestly when I saw your pictures I couldn't find the scar anywhere I'n your face. It's not noticeable at all. If anything I rather have the scar your talking about then to have all theses pimples I'n my cheeks :/
I think that the scar will heal naturally I'n due time. It's nothing to worry or stress about.

Hey abybar thanks. I just back from my derm and he told me it would take two years for this thing to go away. Posted Image He also stated to me I have other scars that are way more obvious. To me it looks like my most obvious scar

Did you intend to attach a picture to your last post? If you've got an up to date shot, post it and we'll take a look. I'm pretty sure what the answer's going to be though because it was looking better before and I bet it'll be looking even better by now. :)

Maybe you reached your file space limit on the uploader. It's not that big and doesn't last long unless you resize pictures. I reached my upload limit long ago. If you'd still like to post the picture, you could upload it to a sharing site and then paste the link here. I use tinypic.com. It's really easy to do. :)
