I'm curious to know, for those who use only powdered mineral foundation, if the result is the same as liquid foundation.

As of now, I can achieve a pretty good look with liquid foundation and mineral powder foundation. I maintain that liquid is superior as far as coverage and looks go and that powder is only needed to set the liquid. This is of course just my opinion and here's why. Every time I've tried using just powder on my face, I run into several problems:
  • The coverage is minimal no matter how many layers I put on.
  • Which brings up the next issue, too much looks, well, powdery and dry. (Yes, I do wear moisturizer, religiously).
  • Then, it melts off my face as soon as my skin gets oily, which is a matter of a couple of hours. (I refuse to wear silicone-based primers - they clog my pores, argh.)
So, do people actually get good results with powder minerals? What am I doing wrong? Or is it just not right for some people? I would love to wear just minerals because my skin is beginning to clear up - my main issue now is redmarks - and I think I can avoid some clogged pores by sticking with minerals. Does liquid + powder look the same as just mineral powder? I can't believe that it does but I know it's the only thing some people use so they must be happy with it... What are your experiences and tips?

YES! I have only been using Mineral Makeup for years now because I needed a makeup that would work for my sensitive skin. Liquid foundations give coverage but they also can cause a reaction in some skin-sensitive or not. Even more so if you are acne prone. You most definitely can a achieve a flawless, full face coverage by using mineral makeup.
1. Mineral makeup coverage will vary from product to product depending on their Mineral formulation. Trial and sample mineral makeup will help you a lot when finding one that works with your skin...also it will help you determine your shade.
2. Brushes! Brushes make or break mineral makeup application. When you use the correct brush you can actually use less and still achieve a full coverage.
1. For spot concealing use a Talkon Concealer Brush. Holds more mineral product for precise spot coverage.
2. Through trial and error I found that a Flat Top Buffer Brush is the way to go when it comes to applying mineral Foundation. It's tight brush bristles hold more mineral powder and allows for an easy application of full coverage-without actually over doing on the product.
3. A regular makeup brush is great for light coverage and finishing powders and or bronzers.
I agree on the primer. I would like to use a primer-but I'm not convinced that it would NOT break me out. I dust a light finishing mineral under my Mineral application to give me an oil free face prior to covering with minerals. I touch up as the day goes on-but I also had to do touch ups when I used liquid foundations. The one thing about Mineral Makeup is the short list of ingredients. The less ingredients for me the better.
Also, you have the choice between mineral that give you a bit shimmer or Matte. I like the the matte-only because it does not have bismuth in the ingredient list. Bismuth can cause allergic reactions in some skin. So, I would stay away from that if you have a tendency to be acne prone. Just my opinion. I hope this helps! I use http://hellominerals.com/ and it works very well with my sensitive, acne prone skin. There are so many companies out there for you to choose from-just make sure it is "real" minerals and not mineral makeup with added chemicals. If that's the case your better off sticking with a foundation!

I have some experience with minerals - I already use one over liquid foundation to set it. I also already use the flat-top brush and a color that suits me. I just can't really apply it successfully. When I apply it, it seems like it's not doing anything. I'll try a little at a time, nothing. I try using more on the brush, it looks chalky. I think my skin might be too oily too because it just ends up coming off easily after a few hours. I can literally touch my face and it'll be on my fingers.... That's why my liquid foundation works so well for me, which I don't have to touch up by the way! This is a huge plus for me. I already have to many things I need to remember to bring with me to classes - not to mention I don't like dealing with the mess.

What kind of things to do use makeup for? Like for me, I use it to even out skintone and cover redmarks (they don't need to be completely gone but more so softening the redness). Does it really cover what you want it to cover? I just can't get the hang of mineral makeup! >_< I consider myself quite good at applying what I currently use but just minerals is proving to be a challenge!

What's your application routine like? Does it transfer easily? Oh, and if it helps, I use Meow Cosmetics at the moment. It doesn't really cause any breakouts, I don't think any of my makeup does to be honest. Only if I don't wash it thoroughly in a timely manner. Thanks for the tips you gave so far!

I use my Mineral Makeup to even out my skin tone and cover post acne marks-and some blueish color under my eyes. Yes, it really does cover what I want covered. No, I don't feel it transfers easily at all. If I wipe my face with a tissue-yes I can see some makeup....but I could still see makeup when I used a liquid with a powder. I'm not familiar with Meow( I'll have to check them out)-I just read some of their ingredients....hmm? It could be their formulation is not as heavy you desire? Contact customer care and ask them for help! I'm sure you're putting it on perfect. Maybe it's not suited for your skin or what you prefer. I always dust a light finishing minerals under my foundation prior to application. Then my foundation. Then if I want a bronzer or blush and finish with my finishing minerals. I wear all day with some touch ups for 12 hours plus...and it still looks amazing. I contacted Hello Minerals and they walked me through exactly what and how to put it on! It helped a lot when they mentioned the finishing minerals under the foundation if your skin is oily. My t-zone gets a little oily so that was a great tip. You could try a primer??? I wish I could without fearing a breakout. I just can't bring myself to do it!!

Would anyone recommend mineral makeup for people with scars?

I think the powder would get in my scars and pores and make t look unnatural, I would appreciate any input you can give me :)
