Why is it not recommended to apply retinoids onto wet or damp skin? And why are you supposed to wait 20 minutes or so before applying moisturizer after you've applied the retinoid?
Is it because the retinoid won't be as effective or because it will increase skin irritation? I have had mixed information about this.
Right Way Of Using Retinoids?

What I understand is that it may become less effective if mixed with another product. I think that acne treatment should be applied to clean, dry skin to maximise effectiveness. Also, waiting can allow the retinoid to absorb into your skin (thus being more effective) before you put moisturizer on top of it.

I found that if you put it on damp skin the alcohol in the product sucks all the moisture out of your skin.
They say use it under moisturiser, but if I put moisturiser on top it just flakes off so I cleanse, tone moisturise, wait half an hour then put on retin-a
