hey ashley, my acne went from moderate to moderately severe with few cysts after dan's regimen which didnt work out well for me. Point is i have just started on my accutane (30mg per day) yesterday which is 21 Oct 2011, which should be around the same time as you cheers=)
My doctor has also given me antibiotics and a little steroid to fight the initial breakouts he sounds extremely confident that accutane will cure acne haha best of luck to both of us!

Day 3

Well, its day 3 now! I can't say OMGZ MY ACNE IS CLEAR NOW! But I am starting to see a couple things change already (not dramatically mind you).

The biggest change I have seen thus far is my hair and skin oil levels. I take a shower in the morning time so usually when the next morning shower rolls around Im an oil bucket! Buuut *drum roll* amazingly i woke up this morning and I was NOT an oil slick! Now I still took a shower because I don't quite trust it enough to get me through the day BUT I can tell eventually I won't have to take a shower every day ! (At least clean my hair) Sooo this is all I have in news today but its really cool to see the accutane already changing things

Haha yea Ashley i will try to sign in ard once a week to update my progress=)
It's my 2nd day and i already feel less oily wonder if its psychological.. anw my doctor did gimme some lipbalm and he mentioned it takes a week or two for lips to start drying out and skin may get itchy dry redness and stuff hopefully its bearable. No clearing or initial breakouts noticed yet i guess no news is good news=)

Day 4

Welp we are on day 4. I know I am updating daily and thats quite boring....BUT! I have seen something start to happen. There is a slightly redder tint to my face already (thank god for makeup!) But I am also seeing areas of my face start to dry out. Like right around my old acne that is leaving there is flaking occurring. The rest of my face is just like it always is. Its amazing how not even a week after starting this drug I can see very smallllll differences in my skin. It makes me excited not worried because I know its working its magic

Day 6


Welp I am am now on day 6! Almost done with week 1! woohoo! I will be attaching some photos of my no makeup face later tonight and I will admit...I was bad. I did pick at some of the actives I have on my face which caused some redness and irritation. Overall I cannot see anything really changing much within my skin other then I am getting slightly less oily.

Also, I have NO idea if this is do to my life circumstances (work has been stresfull) but I cant seem to sleep soundly though the night at the moment. I toss and turn and by 7 AM I am WIDE awake. I think its probably more the stress side of things but meh...has anyone ever experienced this?

Lips at the moment are not dry but they are very thin. They are like almost uncomforyably smooth (anyone know what I am talking about??) But I am loading on the chapstick and night treatments at night time because I dont want my lips to peel ;_;

Haha yes! I'm experiencing the weird smooth lips as well xD Strange...
And your acne is really similar to mine, only mine is more on the centre of my face and not so much on the jaws.

Hey! I just wanted to stop by and put in my two cents, lol. My first week or two on the drug was AWFUL, my face got soooo much more oily, it was so gross. At least you're having the opposite reaction I would have much preferred dry skin from the get go.

It's almost a week! There has been quite abit of changes already. Skin felt very itchy last night.. Not sure if its the topical (Epiduo) which contains adapalene and BP that i was prescripted so i emailed my doctor.. gonna wait for his reply=) yup and both my jawline and forehead has broken out abit with more bumps emerging and my face is slightly redder, lips still doing fine.. still praying hard that this works for me
Ashley your day 6 fotos show things are going well happy for u.. haha and yea no one can deny that u have a gorgeous face=)
And ya try not to worry too much which may be causing some of the stress you say u are having. My final exams are in less than a month so i do stress and get those weird moments where i wake up too early or cant get back to sleep etc.. Just stay positive, what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger=)

oh sorry missed your question yea im from Singapore=) I'm not familiar with the band Astroninja haha not so much into local bands but i guess many Singaporean bands are very talented. I have a few friends who are in bands atm.. If you are free you could check out yingchng's channel on youtube, she sings decent acoustic cover for songs=) anw i have been listening to Chris Mediva's what are words really sad and emooooo.... haha sorry for being random..

That is so interesting that you got oily!!! Like said before I am having the opposite effect! I hope the oily skin goes away for you soon! How is your treatment thus far?

Day 9

Things are going well for me on Claravis! I am now on day 9 and my sleeping is now back to normal (I think I was just stressed out). Im not groggy anymore as well.

Of course I am still experiencing dry lips but because I am being so proactive on chapstick and aquafor its not really much of a noticeable change. I DO notice my skins texture changing though! Im a little drier and so I dnt need to blot as much during the day (which is great!).

I also and noticing that my forehead is smoothing out and it used to be really bumpy (clogged pores maybe?) and so that is a great sign.

And finally but the best result is - the actives. No, I am not completely clear and I still get my normal pimples every day BUT they heal so dang quicly!! the actives dont last more then a day or two whereas pre-accutane they might last 5 days. I am very very happy about this.

I dont know whether I should say this is accutane or the anti-inflammatory my derm prescribed to me. It will be interesting to see what my skin does as soon as I stop my anti-inflammatory rx (which ends day 14). Then we will really see what claravis does!

Prednisone 20 mg.
She said it is to help the initial breakout from the Claravis!

Its very interesting , becouse i got to say when i look to your face and your condition , its like the same kind of skin .. the same skin condition

I didnt open any Blog so far to post my condition but im monitoring my status everyday .. for about 29 DAYS I HAVE BEEN ON "ROACCUTANE"

First of all , in first 19 days , iv been on 20MG and in past 10days i jumped on 60MG .. so far i got to say IB has calm down .. in past 2 days i dont have any side effect beside back pain but today i feel very good , and dry lips of course most of the time.. i will try to upload some pic later u can have a better look .. hehe

Hey there! Wow!! That is quite a jump from 20 mg to 60 mg in such a short time! I know my dermatologist just wants to keep meat 60mg for a steady 5 months (I am pretty darn sure she has no intention on upping or downing my dosage at all) and so hopefully this takes care of it! I think I already have a decently heft dose as it is! I am on 60 mg at the moment and I dont weigh more then 120. But im really hoping that the drug will kick my acne in the pants! lol

Side effects are very minimal to me, which is great! The only thing I notice is that if I dont eat my meals when im supposed to then I have a headache. This is normal for me sometimes but its even more sensitive since starting accutane. Moral of the story....EAT ALL YOUR MEALS LOL!

Definetely keep us all updated on your progress!
