Girls, I really need some advice. Im about month 6 into my spiro regimen on 100 mg and everything was going great untill this past week. I bought a pack of cigars on Monday, and had a few more on wednsday. Since then my face is a disaster. Its red, dry, and im breaking out like crazy. My skin has been consistently clear on spiro and now when I look in the mirror I keep seeing more and more breakouts. Has spiro stopped working for me? Or is it the cigarettes that screwed everything up?

I'm starting to think it may stop working. Maybe the androgen receptors build up a tolerance...but I haven't seen any studies on it or anything. Also, I'm wondering if at 6 months hormones reset and then it gets better. I recall hearing 3 months and then 6 months is important in hormone therapies.

Yeah I don't even know what's going on. No matter how many high end products I try it doesn't do anything. When my skin was clear I could even skip a day washing my face and the next morning it would still be clear. Do you think my skin will ever clear up again?

i would definatly stop smoking it wreaks havoc on your skin and that may be whats causing you to breakout if thats the only thing you have done diffrently.for me i know just being in a smoky room has sometimes lead to me breaking out so that might be your problem

i had the same thing happen to me and i posted about it in an entry titled "spiro resistance". the main problem for me seemed to be the brand i was using. if you changed pharmacies the brand might have changed or it's also possible that your current pharmacy started using a different and didn't tell you since it's not technically supposed to matter.
