Alright so basically I'm asking everyone who has back acne weather it be a decent amount or small amount, what is the best wash that clears up the quickest and best? During summer time My back and some chest acne go away due to being in the sun, as soon as fall and winter hit (no more sun) my back and chest acne return magically and it's starting to get on my nerves alot. I do use benz wash and the normal stuff, some proactive and such but doesn't seem to do anything besides keep it how it is, but not get any better.

I understand everyone reacts differently to different treatments, but surely there must be a preferred treatment that plain and simple, clears up body acne and actually works! Is there anything that the majority of people use? I'm looking for either a wash I can use once or twice a day in the shower everyday, and actually SEE results of clearing up within a few weeks, and as I keep using it eventually goes all away. Or if there is another thing such as a foam to put on my back maybe in the morning or at night that has the same effects.

Anything along those lines listed above that the majority of people use and see results would be good. I'm not to worried about price as long as it isn't outrageous like $1000 expensive, as long as it actually works and can keep me clear throughout these colder no sun months till summer next year. Thanks

I use Neutrogena Body Clear Body wash with pink grapefruit. It has 2% Sal. Acid and Vitamin C, plus little beads that are supposed to burst apart but they honestly don't do anything as they get lost in the loofah. I got it before I started the back regimen but I like it because it cleanses well and gets rid of oil without over drying.

I don't really think it helps acne by itself THAT much by but it cleanses well.

What helped me the most I think was the AHA. I started noticing that layers of dead skin that used to always be stuck to my back and shoulders started becoming loose but still had to rub them off otherwise they sit there even after I wash. And were not supposed to rub because of irritation supposedly.

I recently got a Clarisonic (which is a big investment, had to wait a long time) but I use this thing on my back and I can literally feel that grimy layer of deadness gone off my shoulders and can feel the healthy skin! Plus after I use it and put on the BP and AHA, I can literally feel the tingle of the products soaking in when before my back just felt wet. It's awesome.

The point is, idk I could be wrong but to me when it comes to body cleansers all that really matters is that they clean. I've never found any wash that actually helped treat my acne. But if anyone else knows something, I'd love to hear it!

just curious, but wouldnt using a scrub (such as a loofah) actaully scar the acne?

I have the clarisonic brush here with me, but i use it on my face (so not sure if i want to use it on face AND back). I might have to buy another clarisonic brush

I use a shower brush on my back, but if you have large cystic acne then that may not be the best idea since it can agrivate the acne.

I have oily skin on my back and it is important for me to remove the daily buildup of dead cells and oil, so i exfoliate it daily with a brush. But not everyone has the similar condition.

It helps for me, however if it is too harsh for you, then you can try a cleanser with beads to exfoliate your back or an exfoliating glove from a local store. The latter would be more penetrating.

But i do find exfoliating the skin on the back to help slightly eliminate acne and help the marks fade slightly faster.
The skin on the back is tougher than the face and should be able to withstand daily exfoliation in the shower.

Neutrogena Clear Body scrub is the only thing that works well and consistently for me. Every time I switch, I end up going back to it because nothing else works as well. I also use Dermalogica's buffing cloth with it because I have KP. I think it helps the ingredients absorb better.

I've used St. Ive's Green Tea Body Scrub, Neutrogena's Clear Body Scrub and Pink Grapefruit Body Wash. All three seem to have more or less the same results for me. I'm looking to possibly try something else as well. I have never heard of Clarisonic but will have to check that out.

For brushes, have you guys found any where the bristles are not too coarse? The ones I find are usually so coarse and I can't handle that. Loofahs are too soft. Sea sponges seem to be the best for me but I have yet to find one that has a handle. Those are better since they help me reach my entire back. Thanks!

What about just using your fingers?

How bad is your acne on your back? I have mild to moderate acne on back.

How often do you exfoliate your face?

Using just my fingers is enough if the cleanser is strong enough. A strong cleanser like Neutrogena's acne wash is strong enough to use without a scrub for me.

I have moderate acne on my back with a lot of marks, not many large pustules, but a lot of clogged pores and blackheads.
That's why i use exfoliatation, to help the upper dead skin cells renew themselves faster and remove daily oil buildup which is a very important concern for me.

And about my face, i use AHA lotion, so that itself is a chemical exfolitant and i do not need to exfoliate my face.

Also have you given apple cider vinegar a thought?
It helped prevent those few pustules on my back that come up occasionally.
Look it up, it really does wonders and helps with marks despite its strong smell.

blackheads/clogged pores does not = moderate acne. That is mild acne. You said you only get a few pustules and you have blackheads/clogged pores? You have mild acne.

I get mostly inflamed pimples (pustules) on my back and i usually have 8-10 at a time.

Regarding the apple cider vinegar, i have tried it on my face before (probably one of the biggest mistakes i have ever made) because it caused me a huge breakout.

Do you use the apple cider vinegar as a wash on your back? Or as a toner? How much do you dilute it?

Apple cider vinegar on the face did not work for me as well.
I was all dried out on my face and i got a huge pustule the next day, however on my back it was very effective.

Takes a while to begin working but it does definitely work.
I mixed it 1:1 ratio with water, and put it in a spray bottle.
After I'd shower i would spray it on (i would spray a lot actually), let it absorb for a few minutes and yeah.

It does smell for the first 2 hours, but perfume should cover that.

Also since you have inflamed lesions on your back, an exfloliator is not the best idea for you (even if it is just a beaded cleanser).
Try the acv, and experiment by ramping the ratio of acv:water, to help fight the acne bacteria on the lesions.
I think that should be a good method to fight your back acne.

Good luck!
