OXY bp wash in the shower with a loofah.
Clean and Clear Continous Cleanser with bp is just as good
just curious, but wouldnt using a scrub (such as a loofah) actaully scar the acne?
I have the clarisonic brush here with me, but i use it on my face (so not sure if i want to use it on face AND back). I might have to buy another clarisonic brush
I use a shower brush on my back, but if you have large cystic acne then that may not be the best idea since it can agrivate the acne.
I have oily skin on my back and it is important for me to remove the daily buildup of dead cells and oil, so i exfoliate it daily with a brush. But not everyone has the similar condition.
It helps for me, however if it is too harsh for you, then you can try a cleanser with beads to exfoliate your back or an exfoliating glove from a local store. The latter would be more penetrating.
But i do find exfoliating the skin on the back to help slightly eliminate acne and help the marks fade slightly faster.
The skin on the back is tougher than the face and should be able to withstand daily exfoliation in the shower.
What about just using your fingers?
How bad is your acne on your back? I have mild to moderate acne on back.
How often do you exfoliate your face?
Using just my fingers is enough if the cleanser is strong enough. A strong cleanser like Neutrogena's acne wash is strong enough to use without a scrub for me.
I have moderate acne on my back with a lot of marks, not many large pustules, but a lot of clogged pores and blackheads.
That's why i use exfoliatation, to help the upper dead skin cells renew themselves faster and remove daily oil buildup which is a very important concern for me.
And about my face, i use AHA lotion, so that itself is a chemical exfolitant and i do not need to exfoliate my face.
Also have you given apple cider vinegar a thought?
It helped prevent those few pustules on my back that come up occasionally.
Look it up, it really does wonders and helps with marks despite its strong smell.
blackheads/clogged pores does not = moderate acne. That is mild acne. You said you only get a few pustules and you have blackheads/clogged pores? You have mild acne.
I get mostly inflamed pimples (pustules) on my back and i usually have 8-10 at a time.
Regarding the apple cider vinegar, i have tried it on my face before (probably one of the biggest mistakes i have ever made) because it caused me a huge breakout.
Do you use the apple cider vinegar as a wash on your back? Or as a toner? How much do you dilute it?
Apple cider vinegar on the face did not work for me as well.
I was all dried out on my face and i got a huge pustule the next day, however on my back it was very effective.
Takes a while to begin working but it does definitely work.
I mixed it 1:1 ratio with water, and put it in a spray bottle.
After I'd shower i would spray it on (i would spray a lot actually), let it absorb for a few minutes and yeah.
It does smell for the first 2 hours, but perfume should cover that.
Also since you have inflamed lesions on your back, an exfloliator is not the best idea for you (even if it is just a beaded cleanser).
Try the acv, and experiment by ramping the ratio of acv:water, to help fight the acne bacteria on the lesions.
I think that should be a good method to fight your back acne.
Good luck!
