I am on my 7th week of doxy, and been using BP, and just added tertinoin a week ago. thing is after 7 weeks, i still get acne, some cysts, and some whiteheads... and are painful/inflamed. Isnt doxy working? shud I wait a while or contact my Derma to change the antibiotic?? opinions appreciated.

How long have you been using the topicals?

And yes, Doxy should be working by this time, but I do want to warn you that antibiotics generally do not permanently get rid of acne in most cases.

i was in the same situation as you.

what happened was i was initially on minocycline...worked wonderful...didnt get one single pimple of any kind for like 8 months...then i started getting hair loss (long term side effect of minocycline).

I was switched to doxycycline...worked fine for the first few months, then i started getting one pimple...then 2, then 3...i was resistant to it.

i got it switched to Ceftin.

Tell your derm; its not working. u need something stronger.

BTW: did it work at ALL?

doxy works wonders for me, i use 5%bp day and night aswell and and 2%sacylic acid on top of the bp after sunscreen ,ive been on doxy for about a year and have been experiencing hairless could be genetics my father and brother are bald but maybe its a side effect? hopefully X|

but it should be working for the most part by the 7th week i still had pimples and some blackheads but anytype of pimples and bumps under the skin started to go away and all the active pimples @the skin the benzoyl and sacyclic got.

Nop, it didnt work. throught the 7 weeks, my acne was still active. I do not want mino, since one of the side effects is hairloss, and i am having a bit of it right now (genetic I guess)
