after reading these boards i ordered paulas choice BHA liquid. i realize two weeks probably isn't enough time to see results, but in some ways i feel like my skin is getting worse. there are small bumps where there weren't any before. i tried to stop using my benzol peroxide, but my larger acne started coming back instantly, and i'm now using both.
so just a couple questions... is it normal for my skin to feel so greasy after using this product? i really have high hopes for this but so far it's making me nervous. i don't even want to use moisturizer, my skin looks and feels that greasy.
also, when did you start to see results?
is it ok to use this with benzol peroxide?
thanks to anyone that can help me.

Hi there! I'm currently on my fourth bottle of Paula's Choice BHA liquid and have had great results with it. As far as the small bumps you're experiencing, they are a normal part of starting a chemical exfoliant product, based on my own experience and what I've read. It's just a purging stage that shouldn't last too long. Think of it as a sign that the product is working, because many of those little bumps would have probably inflamed into pimples. As far as your other questions:
-The greasy feeling is normal but I've found that using less can help reduce this. I only use it at night so I don't really care if it looks greasy, but if you do want to use it in the morning I'd recommend using less, giving it as much time as possible to soak in and then blotting the excess, then using moisturizer to normalize your skin.
-As far as seeing results, I'd say there was a nearly immediate change in my skin. Nothing miraculous, but probably less than a week after starting I remember thinking "wow, this stuff is amazing", just because it seemed to improve the tone of my skin so much. There was the initial purging, but that seemed to go away fast and from there it just got better. My acne has always been about 90% small, non-red bumps and 10% inflamed pimples, and it has improved both types dramatically and has kept them under control. I can definitely tell if I skip this stuff for a few days.
-I have used and use benzoyl peroxide with the BHA liquid, no problem. Like I said, I use it at night, wait for it to soak in/dry (about 15 min. or longer), then use BP. I think they are a great combination, not things that can be interchangeable or substituted for one another. They do totally different jobs, so using both is definitely appropriate and effective in my opinion.
If you have any other questions let me know! I'm happy to help. It's a great product that I truly believe in.

I started using Paulas choice BHA on my son's skin when I realised we needed a chemical exfoliant to deal with deep blackheads. It has certainly made a difference and I really like the product.
The first few weeks we definitely had a breakout on his face though. A lot of the blackheads he had turned into whiteheads, the texture of his skin was rough, and yep even in places he didnt have acne his skin wasnt smooth. We didnt have the oily issue though, in fact his skin went really dry.
We started using it in conjunction with an antibiotic, but have since moved onto BP. Apart from still having to deal with dry skin he is happy with the results.
