Ok so i have severe acne and hyperpigmentation scars on my face, i have a derm appointment soon and i want to tell him i want to do IPL but i also have school starting soon...

So how long will it take after my first appointment to get to the first treatment of IPL?

How much will each treatment cost?

I had IPL and I loved it. I found a great doctor who only charged co-pay for the service but that is really rare. If you can't find that, suggest to a dermatologist to run it through insurance as a skin disease that requires maintenance. That's what my derm does because she isn't selfish and wants people to be able to afford IPL.

i have been doing IPL's for over 5 years and love them! they have really helped the red acne scars that I had as well as some ice pick and rolling ones too. i pay $200 for each one to get everything on my face done except for my forehead because i dont have any scars there.

yeah i love it!! i wonder if the people that didnt have success with it had it done on a high enough setting. i used to go to another place that didnt have it at a high enough setting and while i got results it took more sessions. the lady that does my skin now goes over each scar 2-3 times so that helps as well. you just need to do your research and get somebody that is very skilled in doing the ipl's.

Exactly. My derm took it up a few notches each time after making sure my skin could handle it, and on big red marks she would go over them 2-3x. It works awesome... I should go back soon lol! I like to have her spot treat me because it's only $25 and why not! I'm glad it worked for you too. :)

oh my your derm only charges you $25 for a spot treatment? wow that is awesome. i dont know any derms in the pittsburgh area that do the ipl's. i go to a medical spa and for spot treatments they charge $125 but that is for like 10 spots.

Well she just does whatever she sees on my face. It's usually not more than 10, lucky me. If I had more she would do them though. All she charges me is the co-pay! She runs it through insurance as maintenance for a disease, so they must pay her! Idk, works for me though lol! She's actually a child physician but treats teen/adult acne. Weird combination, but she has been most helpful and affordable!

wow that is amazing! maybe i need to do more research to see if i can find a derm that does that. that would be awesome to only have to pay a co-pay. how great that she runs it through the insurance as maintenance. i am soo jealous :)
