I almost look like a different person compared to the beginning of this year. My face used to be chronically red while my body's skin tone was pale. There was even a distinguishable line separating the skin on my face from the skin on my neck. I attribute this to years of acne products and sun, including antibiotics and accutane. Today my skin tone is almost perfect, here's what I did:

1) Exfoliated once a week: This made a big difference after the first time. I used a physical exfoliant; the neutrogena wave device with exfoliating pads. I did overexfoliate the second time, I was naive and after the success of the first I figured the more the better. My skin was sensitive for over a month and I had to hide from the sun. Be careful. In total I exfoliated 5 or 6 times this year, which was enough to cleanse away the damaged skin on top.

2) Cold showers, stopped using any cleansers or other chemicals on my face. The only things that touch my face are water and moisturizer occasionally. I wear a hat in the sun.

3) Fish oil and biotin supplements: started taking these last week, my skin looks much healthier. My sebum production has increased, which means I no longer have to moisturize as direly since my skin was so dry since accutane. There is also scientific research which indicates that fish oil increases the skin's resistance to uv rays, which would be beneficial to anyone suffering from red skin.

Uh it was 3 years ago that I ended my course. I would wait a long time before exfoliating if you just finished yours, your skin is still fragile and accutane inhibits the skin's ability to heal.

since accutane my skins always sore red and dry. I dont get acne anymore apart from moisturiser making me breakout. I hate my skin now, it used to be so nourished and moist but now its dry and course. Its been 3 months since i ended my course and im just going to have to accept the way my skin is now. I would like to exfoliate and have acid peels but my skin's so thin and sensitive i cant. I take omega 3 fish oils which i dont know if they help or not but trying anyway, recently ive been taking collagen supplements aswell to try and regain some elasticity and hopefully heal my skin.

when you say cold showers? how cold? isnt cold water meant to dry out your skin?

thanks for posting
