Has anyone tried Sephora's Mineral Foundation Compact? I've been looking for a good mineral makeup, and the website says that this foundation is formulated without talc or bismuth, two ingredients that I've heard irritate and break out sensitive skin. I usually don't wear foundation or much makeup at all (my normal routine consists of Clinique Redness Solutions Concealer on my red spots/active pimples and Benefit blush, and that's pretty much it), so I'm looking for something that looks natural but effectively masks redness/discoloration/acne (I have a lot of post-acne marks and inflammation, which is pretty obvious against my relatively pale skin) without breaking me out. Would anyone recommend this makeup? Thanks for your input!

Okay i have tried and used the Sephora mineral foundation compact because i got it on sale for $7. As a setting powder it gets the job done somewhat although i still wouldn't buy it! As a foundation i wouldn't suggest using it. It dosen't cover at all! Even when i layer it multiple times. i get breakouts on my forehead and i'm quite positive this stuff made it worse! and i usally don't get acne! Even my boyfriend at the time commented on it! But keep in mind i have combination skin so it may react differently to oily or dry skin. But as a side note dry skin shouldn't use a mineral foundation because it dries the skin the out, which makes it amazing on oily skin types. My suggestion for you chica is to get either the Mary Kay mineral foundation or the bare minerals foundation. they both are flawless products! love them to death! the Mary Kay foundation i beleive might be a less expensive for the amont you get. I've had mine for 2 years already whereas the bare minerals lasted me about a year.

I don't trust Sephora. I don't know if I used the mineral foundation (maybe it was mattifying?), but it broke me out in cystic acne. I didn't use any makeup all summer and my skin got 100% clear of active acne. Then I used this makeup once school started and I got 5 new cysts. I don't know if it was just a bad line for acne-prone skin or if my skin just started to freak out, but I don't use any foundation with "Sephora" on it anymore. In fact, I just stopped using foundation and powder completely. Once I stopped using makeup (well, I do use some coverup for those really red spots) my skin immediately cleared up.
I used to use powder foundation from Red Door Salon because my mom used to work there and we got a huge discount. That powder is great, but very expensive.

I myself have NOT used this product. Though reading through the ingredient list it does pose some problems for those with sensitive, acne prone skin. It is a pressed compact-not loose powder. So they used plant extracts and /or other oils/binders in the formulation to keep it a solid product(pressed). That is not a true Mineral Makeup in my opinion. Minerals without added fillers-just pure minerals is mineral makeup. The less added ingredients to any cosmetic formulation means less opportunity for your skin to react. If your skin were to react you could more easily determine the cause of your cosmetic allergy.
I think mineral makeup is amazing for sensitive, dry, acne prone skin. I myself have used mineral makeup for 8+ years. I struggled to find a replacement to my Bare Minerals when it caused a terrible acne, rash, on my face. I was allergic to the Bismuth that they added to their formulation. It just goes to show you everyone's skin is so different. I did however love the coverage and weightless feel of minerals so I knew I could never use liquid again. I use Hello Minerals and LOVE it. I have had no problems using their minerals. I have combo skin-mostly dry though-Sensitive-Acne prone skin.

Not a good one. Silica can cause breakouts in many people due to the very small particle size and this one has a preservative in it, which never makes sense in mineral formulas. I use Faerie Organics minerals they only have a few ingredients, no bismuth no talc, no preservatives etc. I also heard meow has a decent mineral foundation but haven't tried it myself as I am happy with what I am using.

So I've been using the Sephora Mineral Foundation for a few months now, and personally, I think it works pretty well. I was using Clinique's pressed powder (which I recently discovered contains talc), and this covers better without being heavy or obvious. However, I have been on Accutane for about 5 months, so it's possible that I haven't broken out or had a reaction to the makeup because I'm on such a strong anti-acne drug. I also don't wear makeup often, or on my entire face, so it's hard to say at the moment whether I'll really like this product in the long run or not. I really wanted to go for bareminerals, but the bismuth really turned me off, and the new formulation gets a ton of bad reviews from people with sensitive/acne-prone skin. I also refuse to use liquid foundation, as it feels heavier and pore-clogging. I have heard a lot of good things about Hello Minerals, but my concern is buying a foundation online; how do you know what shade is right for your skin tone if you don't match it in person? Are there stores that sell the brand, or is it only available online?
