If you have a lot of scars or noticable redness, start with the Full Coverage liquid foundation, then a layer of powder, then a layer of Medium Coverage. My acne is fairly moderate and I have a bit of scarring as well, but most people don't even notice!

Has anyone heard of Dermablend cover creme? I did some research on it and it seems like it provides really good coverage. I saw a video of someone with worse acne than me covering her acne with it, and her skin looked great afterwards.

Although it's £25 a bottle the person at the counter will do a test on your skin to get the exact colour and then give you a free sample that will last you 10 days, meaning you can make sure you definitely like it before buying it. The bottle lasts a long time too.
My mam used to use Dermablend when she got vitiligo but it was quite difficult to put on. However, this was a while ago and it might have improved since then.

I'm not sure if La Roche Posay is popular in the US but it's pretty popular here in Europe.
I used Bare Minerals for ages and it was just ok. Made my skin itch sometimes but I liked the finish so I kept using it.
The Clinique Acne Solutions one was another favorite for a while and I really liked it but it was too drying for the winter.

Mary Kay, I agree, is good for coverage on acne prone skin. I have the medium coverage and I use powder on top. One thing you might look into is a BB cream with Smashbox Halo Powder on top. That seems to work well for me and not cause breakouts. I use Dr. Jart's BB cream.

I've always taken good care of my skin, according to what dermatologists usually recommend: washing your face with "against oily skin" products, followed by a tonic and a spot gel. Usually it worked for a while, but as soon an "old pimple" was starting to go away, a new (or some new) one appeared.
I got to know this "Regimem" just a week ago, but I already feel my skin more "stable". In the first four days I overdosed a little on BP and my skin got really irritated, but after 3 days only washing it with very gentle product and moisturizing after, my skin is recovered and ready to enter the Regimen in the right way, this time.
I know this is not what the topic is about, sorry, but I considered important to give an overview of my skin, so my tip for THE BEST FOUNDATION for acne covering I've ever used is better understood.
For a long time I've used several different concelears that only covered the problem, but at the same time worsened the problem, which caused a "cicling" effect: I used it to cover the spots and new ones appeared because of it, then I had to use more product... so on.
One day I decided this just could not go on, went to a pharmacy and tested VICHY'S DERMABLEND CORRECTIVE FOUNDATION (the liquid one). I was immediately in love, and, although it was really expensive (about $45, since I live in Brazil and imported makeup is really expensive here), I decided to buy it. It was the best thing I've done: the coverage is VERY good, I use it actually as a concelear, taking just a littleee dot and aplying it directly in the pimples. Although having such a great coverance, the effect is really natural, it looks like "your skin, not foundation". It also lasts all day long, even here in Brazil, where in the summer we are used to have 35º - 40ºC and a lot of sun.

1 downloads(The Dermablend foundation Renn17 cited above is probably the paste one. This liquid is very easy to use, I usually apply it with my - clean - fingers or with a blending pencil).
After aplying this foundation, I use Silica to finish the process and set it on my face (MUFE has this Hd powder that is 100% silica, but I actually use Coastal scents' one). The maximum I have to do during the day is to give a little enhance with this powder in my most oily areas.

1 downloadsOf course this silica helps a lot to keep the foundation in the right place and last all day long, but even when I used regular powder this foundation worked wonders. It does not worse the skin in any way, actually many times, in the end of the day, when I take my foundation of, my skin looks better than it was in the morning.
The foundation is even great for my dark circles under the eyes. They are not always dark, but as a college student I do not sleep as much as I should, so there are days I need to cover them. Just a little bit covers them perfectly, and it last all day without accumulating in the fine lines under the eyes.
That's it!! I hope this review/tip helps one of you =)

I think I saw that video with the dermablend and that girl. She was such a beautiful young woman - with or without the acne. I've heard it gives good coverage, haven't tried it though.
A derm recommended mineral makeup because of the way it sits on the skin but I was concerned about the whole bismuth thing and my skin is dry now so wasn't sure it would work well for me. She mentioned physicians formula mineral makeup. I did look at it at the store and it said it had minimal ingredients which is good.
Lately, I've been wearing no makeup except on the undereye circles because I'm paranoid. I don't think my technique of just dotting makeup over spots/red marks really hurt anything though. Sometimes, I think that's a really great way to make makeup acne friendly - to just use acne friendly makeup on spots if you can and leave the clear areas uncovered.
