What is your dosage? I was on 100mg a day and didn't notice any improvements at all. I was recently bumped to 200mg a day, but I'm so worried this is a very high dose. I weigh about 130lbs.

I weigh about 130lbs myself and I'm taking 65mg/day...that does sound like a large dosage!

Yes i have had success with minocycline too. However, i changed the medication b/c it was too expensive and its long term effects (hair loss).

read my post here.

Seems like i have to go back on it or another medication because doxycyline, which WAS working, isnt working anymore...read my recent post here.

BTW: topical medication do NOT work on cystic acne. my dermatolgist told me that.

Hey I don't want to burst your bubble, but I too was on minocyline for a year and was acne free................but I had a horrible side effect my lip got a couple dark spots on it that are permanent. Its very noticable without lipstick. So yes it cleared my skin, but messed up my lip. I am now on doxy to kill the intial breakout that spiro is causing, once I am cleared I am quitting the antibiotic, too many side effects.

I am happy to hear that you've had success on Mino, but please, when you eventually stop taking the medication (and anti-biotics are NOT for long term use), gradually taper your dosage and incorporate probiotics.

Oh, and I'm going to move this to the antibiotics subforum. =)
