Hi there
I've been on 50 mg of spiro once a day for 3 full weeks now, and the first week my skin got a lot worse than it has ever been, the following two weeks it cleared but is no better than it was before the spiro. Before refilling next week, I want to ask my dr to increase me to 100 mg. Is it too soon? I'm also on estrostep bc which I started the same day as the spiro.
too soon for increase in spiro?

I don't think it's too soon, but I also have only been on it for a month. My Derm told me to start out at 50 mg for 2 weeks and then go up to 100 mg and stay there until my follow-up (in 2 months). I decided to go against her orders and go up to 75 mg just because I feel like I am experiencing the side effects pretty harshly so I want to slowly reach 100 mg.

Hi,
I've been on 50 mg Spiro for about a month... I did experience a bad breakout about 2 weeks in... Things are calming down, not totally, but are you supposed to be on a higher maintenance dose? Should I ask my dr. in about a week at my next follow-up?
What is the standard, productive dose?
Thanks!

im on bc and spiro 25 mgs twice a day i would reallllllyyyy recomend waiting it out and letting ur body adjust cause if u slam it with even more hormones u could get another breakout, and spiro really isnt supposed to start working until like months in.

I have been on 50mg a day for the past 10 days and was supposed to up my dose to 100mg. However, I'm actually going to lower my dose to 25mg until I get adjusted, the side-effects have been awful. I'd recommend staying where you're at for a while, especially if your feeling/seeing any kind of side effects. It means its working at the dose you're on and it may just be unnecessary strain on your body/hormones to try and raise the dose.
