I have clogged pores EVERYWHERE. Not just my nose but my t-zone, my forehead, my chin and I just don't know what to do anymore. Almost every pore on my face is visible because it is so large.
I want to go and get regular, professional facials where they'll just clean all my pores out. I mean it only makes sense to clear them out because if all that gunk is gone, my pores can shrink. Yes I realize that due to my oily skin, they'll fill back up. But isn't cleaning them out on a regular basis a good thing?
A dermatologist I went to said that no, it's not a good thing at all. But the reasons she gave for why it would be bad, were poor other than to say that if I do get a facial, my skin might over-produce the oil to compensate and fill even more pores.
I honestly don't know what to think. Anyone?
Clogged pores and going for professional facials?

If you are getting a facial for this every 2 weeks, it is definitely not bad. If you were going every other day, yes, you might overproduce. But to say that 1-2x a month is bad is ridiculous. Go get the facial!

Yeah I didn't think it would be bad either. I don't know why so many dermatologists are so quick to dismiss these kinds of spa treatments. Unless it's only because the medical community won't be getting any money from you. And that's probably what it is.
Speaking of which, now I just need to find a place that offers affordable facials.

I have no idea. I mean, I know I went to school to become an esthetician and we learn all about skin. It's not just frou frou stuff lol. It probably is about money honestly. They don't want you to find alternative treatments. As long as you go to a knowledgeable esthetician you will get help. Haha... affordable

I have to stress the 'knowledgeable" part...a good skin care professional will most likely help but one who doesnt know what they are ding can do harm. Do some research...also I think using a clay or sea silt masque helps to reduce clogged pores. I tried a good one by Botanics which is green and looks a lot like aglae lol.
