Hi everyone, I'm new in these forums, and I'd like to know if I really have keratosis Pilaris, Rosacea or just Nodular Acne. The thing is the two dermatologist I went to, gave me different diagnosis and I'm truly confused regarding what my real condition would be. So here's a my story:

This all started when I was 12, since it's the age in which most teenagers develop some common Acne issues. At the time, I used to get hard red lumps every time, with some papules and pustules. They were always large, hard, and painful to touch. After so long, I finally decided to make an appointment with a dermatologist. And, she told me that I might have Rosacea, since my face always had a burning sensation, plus the bumps were mostly red-ish with no head. Furthermore, she also said that I had spider veins in my nose which meant that I surely had the disease. So, I went on with the whole treatment and it didn't work well, this is when I wanted to look for another dermatologist and seek for a different treatment.

(When I described the dermatologist about my face, I didn't tell her that I had rough bumps which were covering both of my arms).

When I was 20 yo, I decided to seek for help once again, since bumps were still there and since I left the other treatment, there weren't any changes at all.Besides the fact that some of the rough bumps in my arms were slowly fading away.

Then, I went to the another dermatologist's office, and this time I was diagnosed with Nodular Acne, but still didn't tell the dermatologist about the rough bumps in my arms. Nevertheless, I manage to tell her that I was getting back acne as well.

Nowadays, I can say that my acne is a bit better. However, there are things that didn't change at all , since if I don't follow my diet I will likely get another hard lump on my face.
My symptoms:
- Big or large Papules on my face and back
- Pustules on my face, back and chest.
- Skin rash ( Heat sensitivity)
- Back Acne
- Rough Bumps in both of my arms ( they used to be totally covered and now they are fading away, leaving no trace )
- Surprisingly, my back acne scars started to fade away as well.
- Strech marks all along my butt cheeks( I know how it sounds, but since I'm a skinny guy I tend to gain weigh and lose it every now and then)

The things on your arms is not acne of what I can see, but I'm not sure. I think it has something to do with tallow and is hereditary.

Tallow?, if it's an hereditary condition, why am I the only one in my family who suffers of this? I just can't get what are these spots on my arm. Plus, They are slowly fading away since my arm used to be totally covered of them.

Well, to maybe cancel a few things out...

the stretch marks have nothing to do with anything, you said it yourself, you've gained and lost weight a hand-full of times, I have them myself. Wouldn't worry about it.

These marks on your arms appear to be freckles, and the bumps fading away are likely a heat rash, which you've mentioned, and with I also have along the backs of my triceps.

As for your acne issue, I doubt anyone could possibly tell from that photo, but your doctor has told you she's pretty sure you have rosacea, and acne commonly comes along with it - many apparently have both, so this acne may come on your back, shoulders, and chest as well.

Next time you see this doctor, if she would like to put you on a course of antibiotics, I and many around here would likely advise against it, as these are temporary solutions and your acne appears very mild anyways.

Perhaps look into a topical medication called "Finacea", which helps treat both acne and rosacea, and be gently with your face, no harsh cleansers (like Cetaphil, etc.), or crappy lotions.

Do a little research on this, and look around.

I hope you find your solution : )

Peace

Thanks for your answer, I also thought these marks were freckles at first time, I even thought they were Keratosis pilaris. In fact, I already asked in many forums and no one seems to tell me what are those red marks on my both arms.

Regarding the acne spots, I'm not sure if it's Rosacea or Nodular Acne. Anyway, I uploaded another picture.

Well, what sucks is that sometimes we have a combination of two, three, or more skin conditions, so we get diagnosed for possibly one, without the other's being taken care of.

I don't think any of us can tell us what exactly you have on your arms, I was going to mention it's possible you might have Keratosis Pilaris, as I remember it looking quite similar, even now looking at photos on Google with your second photo - a much better close up, I can see that it's probably not freckles, but more similar to KP. Along with it, some bumps might become much more enflamed than others it seems (based only on photo's I've been looking at), resembling acne. While your face might suffer from Acne Rosacea.

I believe I have Acne, Rosacea, and Folliculitus, but have diagnosed myself... a bad habit of mine, and many on here, because the internet contains SO MANY sources and such, you can end up believing you have EVERYTHING because many conditions are very similar. However, the common dermatologist simply sucks, but as long as I'm not prescribing myself pills, or harsh topical antibiotics and random creams, I see not much harm in trying various methods on my own to see what works.

I can't recommend anything for your arms, but for your face I would recommend askin your dermatologist about FINACEA gel, it's much less harsh than Retin A, and can help both Acne & Rosacea.

Along with this, you might want to look into "Mandelic Acid", as it also treats both conditions, along with a handfull of others, leftover marks from acne as well, while apparently it's more gentle than other AHA's or BHA's, but just as effective.

I'm going to try some Mandelic Acid products when they arrive in a few days (from Nucelle), while using Finacea at night without the 10% mandelic serum (using that in the day).

Thanks for your reply, I think I also have Rosacea and I've been told by the first dermatologist I visited that I had it. However, I had to seek for another dermatologist because treatment wasn't working for me at all. Right now, I can say I look a bit better but there are still many things I can't understand well, if this is Keratosis Pilaris, why my spots are slowly fading away when it's clear that KP doesn't go itself.

I know this is all confusing, but I don't know what are those things in my arms and I would love to know. Here, I'm uploading another picture in which I'm showing my cheeks and some red spots.
