i have been on tretinoin .025% cream and minocycline for 6 or 7 months now and developed my own skin care routine including those two things that has been working quite well for me. i went from severe cystic acne to very minimal acne with only occasional mild breakouts. A few months ago i was switched from 50mg minocycline twice a day to once a day and saw no recurrence of any acne cysts. The minocycline had been working great for me. but a few days ago i started developing a cyst in the same spot i used to before all the meds. Should i talk to my doctor about trying a new antibiotic or could it be just a fluke thing and im not really developing an immunity yet? Also, do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of this cyst in the meantime? Thanks ahead of time for any and all answers!

If it's just one cyst, doesn't sound like anything to worry about too much at the moment. The antibiotic clears your skin but you still might be susceptible to occasional breakouts which will heal in no time.
But it could be that you needed that higher dose, and taking less of the med, has allowed some of the acne to return.
I highly doubt it's an immunity when you've been taking it for less than 3/4 of a year, especially on so low a dose. I was on doxycycline for 1.5-2 years before it went ineffective for me, and I've been on Minocycline (100mg/ every few days) for 3-4 years, and it still works like magic. (minocycline is the strongest of the Tetracycline antibiotics with the longest half-life that it remains in your body).
But like I said, wait it out, 1 cyst is no big deal especially if it's in a reoccurring spot.

alright, thankyou for the insight! i appreciate it
i'll just wait it out then and only go to my doc if it gets worse from here and see about upping the dosage again.
