Here are my symptoms: facial skin that is itchy, dry, super sensitive, has very tiny bumps, somewhat flakey skin, sometimes some light itching on my body and scalp, but the worst is the red patches of skin on my face. Water can irritate my skin and touching my skin can turn it to a rosier color only in the random pinkish places. My skin looks so damaged. I appear to have discoloration on one side of my face because I have a pink area running from my nose down to my mouth, then normal skin on my cheek, then a much redder splotchy skin area on my temple. The other side has the same thing sort of thing but much less noticeable and the pink areas are smaller on the left side of my face. I've had this problem with my skin and it has only grown pinker with time for 7-8 months now and the redness has not gone past my face. My neck looks white and pale and not at all pink or red. The itchiness and redness literally stops at my jawline but beyond that nothing on my neck, nor itchiness.

When I tried using Biafine (a moisurizer used to treat burn victims and post-surgery patients), after 2 days, I couldn't stand the itching and then when I washed it off, the skin was so sensitive and angry that is remained horribly red for two days later after I stopped it's use.

Only thing I can think is this: perhaps using Bare Minerals foundation powder caused this because I started having skin dryness and maybe it was damaging my skin the whole time and could have taken months to end up turning into what it is now even though I stopped using it November or December of 2010 and didn't actually get this pink/red problem till February 2011...Could that happen so late after stopping use? OR this could be a very delayed reaction of worsened skin due to a steroid ointment I took in February and March of 2010.

Please help!! What does my facial skin problems sound like? I refuse to believe I have rosacea, but let me know what you think!

First of all, I recommend you post a photo of your face, or affected areas.

Second, see a dermatologist - simply to get a diagnoses. They hand out antibiotics like candy, and usually make terrible assumptions of skin conditions, assuming we're all just pock marked acne face children looking to get a quick fix - but tell them exactly what you've been doing and applying to your skin. You may accept his prescription (I assume antibiotics), and come home then search what exactly you might have, then decide if you'd like to take a more natural approach a try first, or not.

Can't make any assumptions and tell you what to do, things could only get worse, but at the moment you should treat your skin very gently.

Again, upload a photo, and try to get an appointment with a dermatologist.

Don't panic, everything's always handled someway or another, just take it easy on your skin smile.gif

And here's an interesting topic I just found, a few posts down from this from a person encountering a similar problem that has worsened following the use of steroid cream.

http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Rosacea-S...in-t301475.html

Along with a question asked on a rosacea community website, to a dermatologist regarding rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis.

http://www.rosacea.org/patients/askthedoct..._for_rosace.php

"...it is possible to have rosacea on your scalp, it is unusual for the disorder to manifest itself there.
It's also possible that you suffer from seborrheic dermatitis, which often occurs in addition to rosacea. Seborrhea is a common, chronic inflammatory skin disorder, generally confined to areas where sebaceous (oil) glands are most prominent. The condition is not harmful or contagious, but it can be uncomfortable and unsightly. Scaling and redness are the two dominant characteristics of seborrheic dermatitis. If it develops on the scalp, it can range from a mild case of dandruff to thickened scaling patches and may have an itching sensation.
Seborrheic dermatitis may be the most common skin condition to occur at the same time as rosacea. Although the two disorders are unrelated, a clinical study found that 26 percent of patients with rosacea also had facial seborrheic dermatitis and 28 percent had seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp."

If you do happen to have rosacea, it's not a big deal - I freaked out at first, felt this would be something I'd have to constantly worry about my whole life. Once you find a routine that works for you, it's no harder than any other skin care routine.

For now, I'd also recommend Nizoral shampoo for your scalp, as that's what dermatologists usually recommend for most scalp related issues. And if your dermatologist happens to diagnose you with rosacea, ask him about FINACEA gel, then find a gentle cleanser and good moisturizer through reviews and such online, with various other simple remedies like Apple Cider Vinegar commonly used for many conditions.

But yeah - post a photo, and get a few other opinions too.
