QUOTE (longwaytogo @ Aug 7 2011, 08:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Can I join this challenge??? We can totally help each other? I am starting now. I am so sick of this picking habit and have just noticed that I am seriously damaging and now scarring my skin.

LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!

I AM JOINING NOW... I LOOK LIKE RUMPLESTILTSKIN AND I KnOW ITS ALL MY FAULT due to all the turmoil I've put my skin through.. NO PICKING!!! ... also I am starting a no washing regimen... and only using a no rinse cetphil once a day... I will do this for two weeks...if no improvement I will change my regimen... but sticking with the NO PICKING!!!!..

LET'S DO IT!!!! I really need this support.

Today is day nine! I still haven't picked at my pimples smile.gif I went camping over the weekend. Lucky for me the bathrooms for the camp sites usually have sucky mirrors and there are always people in them so it helped me to not pick. I have had the urge to pick a lot, I knew it would get harder and harder though. I have had a bunch of black heads pop up, some have turned into white heads. Most of the places I picked before I started the challenge have healed but in some of their places are pimples because the goo I pushed back into the skin has finally risen to the top again. My skin is gonna be pretty crappy for the next week or two while all the goo rises to the top of my skin but it should be clear after that, I just can't pick!

Ha!...day 2 ... I picked the day before yesterday... but not yesterday!..and I WILL NOT TODAY, SO here I am at day 2...again. I think we need to put together a no pick pledge..and recite it everyday. I think that might be helpful for me!...also, I was going to start the no washing regimen along with the " no picking pledge" but have decided to give tretinoin a shot and see how that works out. And since you need to cleanse at least twicw a day on this stuff, that would be impossible.

I've heard many success stories from tretinoin users, and have tried it once before, but didn't follow the instuctions properly. Too much, too frequently, too soon, and didn't cleanse properly and rubbed and pulled and PICKED at my skin.... big tretinoin no-no. And my skin jus didn't tolerate it well. So I'm giving it another go...

Also, I am curious to know what cleansing methods, regimens, routines, all you other "no pick" pledgees r using?... and do u have any tricks or diversions you use to keep u from picking?...let me know!!.....thanks.

Great job Sasja hifive.gif

I'm on day 10 banana.gif and I'm loving the results. My face is pretty much clear and I feel so free like I can do anything I want to without feeling embarrassed to show my face and arms in public. I am really excited I have done so well with this challenge and I can't wait to say I have beaten it once and for all box.gif

cmpltlyprfct, I'm using the acne.org cleansing regimen. I would recommend to always cleanse your face twice a day because you need to remove the oil and grime that collects on your skin during the day. Will you explain to me why you think not cleansing will benefit you? Good luck to you sideways.gif

Today is day eleven! Had a huge urge to pick last night! Instead, I stepped back from the mirror and told myself how pretty I am with unsqueezed skin while holding both arms up horizontally in fists(part of the "Chill Out Program"). It worked awesomely, when I finally exited the bathroom I went to my bed and laid down to relax myself. For me, my biggest trigger to pick is being really stressed out which I was last night, I'm not sure why. But while I was laying in my bed I found a relaxing position and shut my eyes. The more comfortable I got, the less I wanted to pick. I stayed like that until the urge was completely gone then I went on with the rest of my night. Turns out all I really needed to beat this thing was a 'time out' every now and then exclamation.gif exclamation.gif exclamation.gif

My skin is breaking out a bit but looks clear with makeup. I have two whiteheads in the area between my nose and cheek. I have blackheads around my nose and on it but they are pretty small, tempting to squeeze but I won't! I have three smallish pimples on my forehead and one or two at the top of my scalp, ouch. I'm pretty sure I have a whitehead or two on my cheeks as well but they are hard to see. I wonder if everyone knows where every single pimple on their face is or if it is just something pickers do dot.gif

hi smile.gif im new to the website and browsing around. Just want to say well done on being so open. Just from reading posts etc I have already started feeling more motivated to get going with sorting out my skin. im 27, had acne since i was 12. only my hubby and folks have seen me without makeup since i was 13. always held me back in life and given me a low self image. lower i feel or worse skin looks, more ive picked! im gonna join u guys and i started the cleaning regimen 2 days ago properly without picking and i already see a difference. reason i have picked is cause often you can see the dry scabs under my base which looks so ugly so i try take scabs off so its smoother, only i tend to often make it worse and feel horrible:(and ofcourse its just a nasty habit which is hard to break.but now as temptation arises i keep reminding myself its just spreading the pimples even more!
so this is to encourage you brave peops to push through and im gonna try do the same. any extra tips u can offer on makeup or cleaning etc will be great smile.gif im going to get progesterone cream today as i think acne is largely hormonal prob for me and read from lots of people that has helped, and then im using cetaphil,bp and cetaphil moisturizer. well done on your success so far!

Well I picked last Friday night, so I guess it's been 5 days that I haven't picked, but I'm on day 2 of this wound healing on my face. I've been keeping polysporin on it, hoping it's healed enough for me to cover it with concealer in a few days.

So it's the end of day 12 and I'm still 'pick free'. My face skin is looking the same as it did yesterday but I wanted to tell you how the skin on the back of my arms is doing. It has cleared up a bunch, only a couple of brownish/red marks left and I'm not sure how to get them to go away. I have been cleansing the back of my arms with Dan's regimen every now and then and I have been using an exfoliating stick thing which is a pretty mild. Eventually they should be clear but I'm impatient so speeding up the process would be nice!

Hi!...
I was hoping to employ the no washing regimen as part of that idea that unless you have a hormaonal or other internal imbalance, that the reason you may be breaking out is due to the use of products and cleansing... ... this idea his expressed in the "no washing" reg and the "caveman" reg.. I actually think that for me cleansing once every other day is helpful..but while on the tretinoin you must cleanse everyday...so I will. But I am not picking!!! unless there is something that is huge painful and screaming to be popped!..... I have also found that rubbing alcohol, as taboo as many say it is, is extremely helpful to me...and I apply it to any popped pimples or scabby things several times a day... there is a thread about this. Has been extremely helpful to me and helped keeping my popping and picking and squeezing under control as I fell my face is very clean and I don't want to contaminate it with my hands, even if they are cleansed!

I know this is a little late but Ive decided to get on board. smile.gif my acne is very mild, and I think the only reason I have it because is because I pick so much. So here's to 30 days of no picking
