hi guys,

I've pretty much turned into a living matter of worry.

I'm quite scared of the risks of breast cancer whilst messing with hormones. I'm a 19 y/o female, started the pill when I was about 15 (again I'm not 100% sure..possibly 16) either way I switched 2 times before I went onto the dreaded diane-35 for acne 9 months ago. I'm in a position where I'm using the bcp and 25mg of spiro a day to try and contain the acne. I'm really not sure how long I can do this for, possibly until mid 20s? I really don't know..if I had the confidence I'd get off the pill asap but I'm trying to start my life first because I wasted so much of it trying to help my acne.

ANYWAYs. I'm worried so, so much about developing breast cancer by using diane and spiro for a few more years. I'm fairly sure both my parents never had it run in their families I know my mum didn't for sure but I know this is not the biggest factor.

Does anyone have any information they can add about the risks or if there are ways to help prevent it whilst using the bcp and spiro?
I'm so confused sad.gif
and..pretty pissed off I get the option of "horrible acne and messed up hormones = no social life or happiness" or "breast cancer or die from blood clots (*doesnt run in the fam)"

even coming off the pill I realise hormones go into craze mode. Can anyone add their thoughts or knowledge on breast cancer and hormones going all over the place (aka high dose bcp and anti-androgens). Is there anything I can do to lower the risk factor?

Thankyou

These are all questions you need to discuss with your doctor. The only way to lessen potential bad side effects are to have a healthy diet, exercise, and sleep. You should also be performing self -examinations, to which you can learn how to do via internet. And even then there are no guarantees.

Another note: Women who eat more fiber, are less likely to have breast cancer

But if you think the only options are to have acne or to take birth control and get cancer or die, than I suggest you stop taking it because that's not a very rational approach to a medication and will just make you stressed, which can also exacerbate your acne.

I guess U should stop taking BC pills. They are really dangerous for health. I did some research be4 going on BC.I know that it causes blood clots. You can take antibiotics and Spiro. I guess it would be safer. And don't forget about topical gels, cleansers, diet, makeup and etc.
