Kay so I know there are a ton of people on here who are very anti-Proactiv System... I understand that everyone has different skin and I did have some success with it in the past. I used it for about a year, got clear, went on to use other products more suited to anti aging etc. and was fine up until about 6 months ago when my skin went insane and I went to a dermatologist. Long story short - minocycline, mild cleanser and various topical retinoids - that have not been helping. I have huge fear about the IB and haven't been consistant. She told me to not use the Proactive system with the Retinol she prescribed because it would be too drying. I actually find that I've been getting oily when I use the Retin A and I pretty much IMMEDIATELY breakout - which could tell me that it's more of a reaction than an IB. She gave me Retisol A in a cream base with sunscreen etc. I'm wondering if it's all the other crap in there. ANYWAYS, in desperation I went back to using the Proactiv cleanser, toner and then instead of using the night cream I have been using the Clindoxyl that the derm prescribed for me to use in the mornings and the nights I don't use the RA. I feel some improvement... I'm not flaky, dry etc. I'm still dealing with breakouts (I have an awesome one on my nose and another on my chin right now) but as a whole my skin feels a bit better. I noticed that Proactiv is now offering a night cream that combines Salycilic acid and retinol. I'm also interested in the lightening cream that they now have to help with some hyperpigmentation and my toooons of freckles. Has anyone had any success with either of these products? I would really like to be able to follow the derms advice and use a retinol but it just hasn't been working. HELP PLEASE!
