So I have been taking

Vitamin B-5 500mg
L-Caritine
Fish Oil (omega 3)
and occassionally zinc (but i will try to up the dosage to 25mg daily)

My face is now very dry when it used to be very oily. Everytime I wash my face, I get a very tight feeling on my skin afterwards. I realize the drying effect is not the best since this means that my skin is getting too dry. Currently there are flakes on my skin and I have considered adding some sort of moisturizer to balance out the dryness.

So my question is have other B-5 or vitamin users experienced this dryness and how have you combated this dryness? I am hesitant to put additional product on my face so my current plan is to cut down washing my face to once a day at night. My current regimen is washing twice a day with a cleanser (spectro gel) thats it.

I currently have about around 10 red cyst like bumps on my face but each one is seeming to heal quicker.

Hm, your skin definitely shouldn't flake after using spectro jel. A moisturizer might help prevent the flaking (which is probably causing acne), but they tend to leave your skin looking and feeling oily--even something light like a few drops of jojoba oil.

You might want to lower the dosage of b5 or l-carnitine (or try periods of only taking one of them at a time) and see how it affects your skin. I have a feeling it's the carnitine because 500mg is a relatively safe dose of b5, but it's still good to test and be sure. You could also try topical niacinamide which helps your skin retain water.

Currently I'm spot testing one part of my face with lotion to see what it looks like in 2 weeks. I have also stopped taking fish oil supplements.. trying to adopt a better sleep schedule and also drinking lemon juice / green tea mixed together in the morning.
