Ok so I'm a 19 yr old female and I'm not sure really how to describe my acne in terms of severe/mild etc.. I have one big cyst, and about 10 pimples on my chin/jawline, no pustules and a fair bit of red marks but nothing too crazy. I just went to my doctor 3 days ago and she put me on minocycline and I'm using 0.1 differin gel once a day as well. so far nothing drastic has happened my cyst is a lot less red though, i'm really just looking for other people's experiences with this medicines, did they work for you and do you think that they'll work for my type of acne? Thanks!

Oh my goodness well I certainly don't want gray teeth! or skin! lol thanks for sharing that my doctor didn't mention anything about this but i'm happy i know now. Did you and your friend go through the initial break out that everyone talks about? Was it really bad? That's what I'm most afraid of!

My daughter is 12 and has had really bad acne, very red, tonnes of small angry pimples simply all over her face, her chest and back. She took Doxycycline for 3-4 months and it only cleared up her chest and toned down the red - maybe a few pimples disappeared. She's now been on Minocycline for nearly 3 weeks and the improvement is simplly amazing. Most of the pimples on her back are clearing up, her forehead as well. The redness is down and you can see them slowly disappearing. Only side effect was some headaches the first week, but nothing bad. She's also using Epiduo at night, which is a combination BP and Adalpene cream plus 2.5% BP cream every morning (only started that 3 weeks ago). You need to give the meds time to work. My daughter had a horrible breakout with the Doxy for about 3 weeks then it slowly cleared to normal acne. Gray teeth - would be very rare and I think the Derm is saying that because some antibiotics can cause discolouration of teeth - but that's mostly for children, not teenagers and adults, and is very rare. Good luck!
