Hello,

I've been using retin-a for a few years now and my skin is better but I still get acne and these blackheads on my forehead. My skin clears then comes a pimple that leave these black spot behind and it's very frustrating because it takes months for it to clear away. Then when it clears another one pops up. I been using over counter cleanser and retin-a at night. Now, I'm planing to ex-foliate my face, use different cleanser, a toner + some moisturizer. I need some advice. What should be the right way to treat my face to prevent from getting more acne? Also, my forehead seems to be very oily but everything else is very dry skin sometimes I see peeling. I have these blemishes left on the sides of my lip that I'm trying to clear by putting retin-a everything and ponds clarant b. Any advice will be useful. Attached a picture of the current black spot left behind from latest pimple. On this one I play to much with it and it got worst. I'm hoping this doesn't happen again.

blackheads are more like a deep hole in the skin (research 'pore')... with a beautiful black velvet-like substance at the bottom. They don't form after a pimple.

You don't have blackheads, research 'red marks', see if that is your issue. They happen post-pimple healing.

you realize.. your picture is too small and blurry for anyone to make a wholesome judgement right?

I think you can clearly see the black spot on my forehead. I hate it.

i am in the EXACT situation as u

super oily skin
sebaceous filaments in nose and cheek area (no blackheads to my knowledge) retin-a did nothing to help with these
mild-moderate acne

u been on retin-a for years? i suggest tryin somthing diff

about 3 years ago i had worse acne and went on retin-a,doxycycline, and erthomycin and it cleared me up pretty good.

my acne started again so ive been on reitn-a for about 9 weeks now... i rlly hope it starts to do its true work because my skin hasnt improved MUCh from 9weeks ago
and yea the PIH rages me!!1 1 smallpimple lasting 3-5 days leaves that dark mark for months, pisses me off more than acne itself

I agree with this. It sounds like postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), commonly called red marks because a lot of acne sufferers experience red/pink PIH, but PIH is not always red. It simply means darkening of an area of skin, and the color of the darkened area can vary depending on the ethnicity of your skin. So, in a sense, whatever the pigment of your skin is, PIH may simply show up as an area a few shades darker than your skin pigment. For example, I'm Irish and Cherokee, so naturally my skin always has a red/pink hue to; therefore, my PIH shows up as a bright red. Or PIH could simply be either reddish or brownish for others; it's all variable depending on the individual.

But in it's simplest form, PIH is an area of darkened skin after inflammation of the skin.
