depends on your skin benzoyl peroxide can be really strong and hence why people get alot of irritation from it, tea tree oil is a alternative and its pretty strong like benzoyl peroxide then theres witch hazel which can be used to clean and disinfect and be used as a toner its def not as strong as benzoyl peroxide or tea tree oil. so to answer your question yes but not every alternative will be the same for every person.

Also the peeling effect of the bp it's what i think makes it work very well.
