Hey all you beautiful people biggrin.gif

Been reading some of your logs and finally decided to join and post one!

I'm 23, acne since 14. My acne has been said to be moderate.

Been on Accutane twice. Once for 5 months full dose then 4 years later a second time on ultra low dose for also 5 months. Accutane messed up my liver so I can't take it anymore shock.gif

As for antibiotics I've tried Doxycycline about 3 times now. Last time was about 9 months ago and before that like 6 years ago.

Anyways, I've been subscribed Doxitab 200mg for 6 months with Zineryt as a topical. I also maintain a very healthy diet. I don't drink or smoke, only eat fresh foods.

Been using it for like a week and a half now with not much results. I have 3 red marks around my mouth area and one active pimple under my chin and one on my neck.

So yeah, I'll keep you guys posted eusa_dance.gif

Alrighty, I've hit the 2 week mark.

Skin no much better, got a new pimple by the mouth area and the ones on the neck are still there.

Seems like the neck area is the most active now as I got a lot of deep ones lately. You know, the ones you can feel but can't really see...Kinda like ninja acne... ninja.gif

Till next update, Visi out eusa_dance.gif

Good luck hon - it can take a loooong time before any improvement is seen! Awesome you are taking a topical cream as well - I've been told that using both the Doxy and a topical cream can somehow help your skin/body not build up a resistance to the antibiotics? So that is great. My daughter has severe acne (nearly 13, poor thing!) and was on Doxy for nearly 3 months - a slight improvement but nothing major - so is now on Minocycline, been only 3 weeks and already huge improvements, so we are very excited! Good luck! xx Daisy xx

Thanks so much lovely Daisyinthedesert smile.gif
I am glad to hear your daughter has seen awesome results! Different antibiotics work for different people i guess biggrin.gif

Update, almost 3 weeks now. Mouth area still pretty red but at least the neck area has stopped breaking out.

So yeah, 3 weeks some improvement. Keep fighting the good fight, Visi out eusa_dance.gif

I also should mention I was taking Purbac for a month with little results before starting Doxytab.

Alrighty, till next update, Visi out eusa_dance.gif

I did develop red bumps that would fade in a matter of hours and would itch before. But not currently on this course.

Do the bumps hurt when you press on them? It could just be non inflamed pimples. As doxycycline has that effect.

what do you mean that doxycycline has that effect? do these non inflamed pimples ever go away, or are they permanent?

are they skin colored bumps kind of like clogged pores?

I'm afraid I never developed non inflamed acne. All mine are inflamed. I'm currently 2 and half months in and still little improvement. How long have you been on the stuff?

Hi Visi :)

I started 100mg Doxy today so thought I'd check the logs for others experiences and saw yours.

I had gone to see my doctor today with the intention of getting a referral to see th dermatologist about Accutane but they said my acne isn't bad enough. The doctor said 100mg was a big dosage in relation to the things I've taken in the past so it's interesting that you're taking double that.

I'm kind of pinning my hopes on it after 13 years because it doesn't seem like there are many other option if I can't get Accutane. I hope it works for you, too! :)

Hey man! I defently recommend Doxy, it has helped me much in the past. I am afraid now though I am having slow results and I'm already on month 4. I am gonna give it another month before I visit my Derm again.

I wish you loads of luck, and I am sure you will have awesome results :D

Shame that it's not working as well as you might have hoped, Visi. I know next to nothing at all from a medical point of view but I wonder if things like Accutane which would be stronger in cpmparison mean that things like Doxy don't make as much impact. Just seems strange that you would have had results with it before, but not as much now. Still, fingers crossed that things pick up for you.

Pleased to say that it's going great for me so far. Into my second week and it's already cleared my acne. There's nothing active at all. I'm finding it kind of strange because my acne's been persistant for 13 years and never really responded amazingly well to any other antibiotics. So for this to work so fast and pretty much get rid of it all seems weird. In the back of my mind, I'm wondering how long this will last; if it's just going to be like this until my skin gets used to Doxy and then the acne slowly starts to come back, or if this dosage will be anough to keep it at bay. I suppose I should just appreciate it for now and enjoy it.

Dude that's awesome :D I hope the effects last for a long time!

No luck on my part, things gotten worse on the chest area :( Meeting my Derm tomorrow, might need to go back to accutane even with my destroyed liver :|

So I think I might be closing this log soon. Its hit the 4 month mark!

Well, here's hoping your derm can help you out and perhaps come up with some other options. Fingers crossed! :)

Alrighty! I have to close this topic up as I am no longer taking doxycycline. I am back on accutane but at a very low dose (5mg) a day.

To end off I had little success this time round, but keep fighting the good fight Posted Image

Cheers and goodluck all you wonderful people Posted Image
